Easy to get to about 15 mins on circumvesuvio train to Sorrento . Packed train though. Leave the station and it is straight down the road. The site is easily set out and you can look over at the ruins as you walk to the ticket office. So I guess if you do not want to , or dont have time for proper visit you could glance and walk away. We had priority tickets so skipped the queue and went inside to another ticket office. We received a guide book which was handy as it gave info on all the different areas of the site. I wanted to go here and Pompeii and i am very glad I went. I would not recommend trying to see both sites in one day as many people ask. You can do Herculaneum in 2 to 3 hours but it would be too tiring to do both. Pompeii takes a good 4 to 5 hours plus travel as the site is ginormous and can be confusing to follow the map. We went end of April and was very hot and sunny.

Walked straight to the second ticket booth ( to pick up the paper copy you need for entry), no queue. We paid extra for the audio guide. It was absolutely brilliant!

Great insight from our archaeologist Luciano, which would definitely not have been gained if doing a self-guided tour or a tour with a standard tour guide.

Easy to book, started in time, Excellent & passionate guide, very informative- made for a very memorable and worthwhile experience. Thank you sincerely

Carlo was awesome, he guided us at a leisurely pace through the ruins and explained all. We truly appreciated his expertise!
