Naples: The Bourbon Tunnel Guided Tour with Entrance Ticket

2. Naples: The Bourbon Tunnel Guided Tour with Entrance Ticket

Come and see enchanting scenery unfold before your eyes in a secret place full of history and atmosphere. This emotional journey conducts visitors through the new section of the underground of Naples. The Bourbon Tunnel was built in 1853 by Ferdinand II of Bourbon, who, concerned about the outbreak of the rebellion, asked for an escape from the Royal Palace to the barrack in Via della Pace, now Via Morelli. The work was not completed and, during the Second World War, was used by residents of the area as a military hospital, later becoming the Hall Judicial Deposit. The war left its mark even in the subsoil where we find handwritten messages of wish and desolation of those who lived there. In the tunnels you will also find statues dating back to the fascist period and a unique exhibition of many cars and motorcycles, abandoned for years and then freed from piles of rubbish, arranged and illuminated ad hoc along the route.

The street food tour is great! We had few samples of food, including fresh cheese, pizza (2 types), desert (2 types), coffee and few more interesting samples. The guide helped to learn about Italian food as well as get to know some of the history of the old city

Luciano Leone was a very special guide. He made sure everyone’s questions were answered and he made a point to keep the several young children on our tour interested. I’m so glad I paid for the tour rather than visiting the site on my own.

Meet with our guide Diego, who was really knowledgeable and showed us around the site with a lot of passion

Diego was a passionate student of archeology and made the entire tour interesting and enjoyable.

Amazing experience to touch the vanished civilization
