We had a 10 hr tour with Alan. His English was excellent, because he went to college in California. He picked us up at our hotel and we went to the National Museum in time for the opening at 8:30AM. Even though it was Sunday, there were very few tourist for the first half hour. We saw the Jade Cabbage with only two other people! We were disappointed that the Jade Pork has been transferred to the Southern Museum. Next, we went to 101 building and went to the top and had soup dumpling lunch at Dai Tai Fung. Alan was able to get us seats in only 20 minutes, while the line was 2 hrs. Next we went to Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial. Alan put us in the best position to see the changing of the guards. We went to see the Grand Palace and then he dropped us off at the airport.

Our friendly and easy going guide Alan spoke perfect english and was able to organize a jam packed day for us and have us back to the ship on time. We were able to explore and visit sites and places that only locals know about. It was wonderful to discover north east Taiwan through the expertise and local knowledge of Alan. I have been on many tours and excursions while vacationing but this one has to be the BEST ever! The tour was totally personalized and our guide, Jack Chou was excellent! He listened to all our requests, made great suggestions and made us feel like family. His car was clean- provided us with water as well as tissue & towlettes (so thoughtful), and so polite. Jack is also very knowledgeable and informative and we learned and experienced a lot in the 8 hours we were together. I liked how he was always checking with us to see if we needed a refreshment, snack, or anything else. He was also kind enough to take pictures of us.
