The trip did not take place as most lavander fields in Valensole were harvested a few days before. The agency offered a tour to Sault as an alternative which I was glad to take. Our guide was very kind, and ensured that all of us were happy throughout the tour. It would have been nice to receive some historical background information on Gordes. Anyway, if you are mostly interested in nice landscapes you will not be disappointed. The thing that is definetely to improve (hence 4 out of 5 stars) is the communication of the tour agency with customers. Two days before the tour I requested clarifications via email on the venue but I reveived no reply, and nobody answered the phone either. Thus I went to the supposed meeting point with many doubts, wondering even whether the tour would actually take place.

It was a great tour overall. However, our guide was a bit late so we started a bit later than scheduled. We loved all of the stops and had plenty of time to explore and take pictures. The lavender fields were some of the best. Our guide was very nice, however, I wish we got to learn a bit more about the areas we were visiting so it felt more personal. We learned the basics in terms of what the areas were known for (Moustiers for earthworks, St. Croix for the lake, Valensole for lavender, etc.), but I think I probably could have googled that. It was also a bit hard to hear anything that was being discussed in the van. We had time to visit St. Croix Lake which was one of my favourites, we rented a peddle boat to go out onto the water for an hour, but we wish it could have been longer. Overall we loved the tour and covered a lot.

A wonderful experience to see the hills covered in deep purple and enjoy the charm of the French countryside. The guide, very kind and well prepared, took us on less trafficked routes and with few tourists. The village of Moustier Sainte-Marie and its church in the rocks is a dip in the past and with the possibility of buying typical products of the area. The visit to the organic production company is interesting. The view of the Lac de Sainte-Croix is as spectacular as the Verdon gorges. To do!
