From Manchester: Lake District Sightseeing Day Trip

1. From Manchester: Lake District Sightseeing Day Trip

The tour departs from Manchester Airport and bypasses the city heading into the luscious surrounding countryside. Admire the views as you travel to the UK’s largest national park, the Lake District, stopping at the underground Rheged Discovery Center along the way. During the partially narrated 2-hour journey to the Lake District, the tour also stops by the famous Castlerigg Neolithic Stone Circle where you can feel ancient mythical energy flowing around you. Continue on to Grasmere Village, which boasts an array of beautiful 19th century architecture as well as the grave of well-known poet William Wordsworth. Afterwards, let your nose lead the way to Sarah Nelson’s Gingerbread Shop, where you can taste a selection of traditional sweet treats from the region. After you have filled up on gingerbread, it is time to explore the national park and navigate through the Langdales, also known as “Little Switzerland”. As you wander around the park, marvel at the breath-taking views that sprawl across the landscape, which offers some of the most dramatic and diverse scenery in the UK. Throughout the tour there is plenty of stops both on and off the bus to make the most of your trip to the Lake District. One of the highlights of the day includes an amble around Blea Tarn before a stop at Ambleside where you can get lost in the maze of twisting streets or shop at a selection of picturesque stores.

What people are saying about Ambleside

Overall a great experience. As first time visitors in the UK this was a good way to see some of the Lake District without having to figure out everything ourselves. Good option if you don't have a lot of days in the region. The tour guide/driver was a big part of making it a great trip. It was fun to drive in the narrow high roads. The airconditioning wasn't working which made it extra hot, but it was because it was a replacement bus I believe and it wasn't so bad. It didn't take away from the fun. I would recommend this trip if you want to see the beautiful Lake District and don't have a lot of time. Tip: Pack enough water!

It was one of the best trips that I ever went, Frank was so entertaining, the weather and atmosphere were amazing. the only bad thing was the meeting point, if inside Manchester then it would be much more easier. Also it can be better if there is more time to take the boat in Windermere since it is unforgettable experience.

Loved the trip! Frank was superb and listening to the stories while going around the mountain terrains was worth an experience. I was traveling with senior citizens, had no issues at all! Wish we could look at a couple more lakes/water bodies. Grasmere was the best experience after Blea Tarn.

Wonderful experience! I was a solo female traveller and it was my first time in the UK. Many thanks to Shirley, my guide, for making it enjoyable and I felt safe throughout the journey. It was well-paced and the views were amazing!

Superb landscape and villages. A top class driver/guide/entertainer. To do !
