On this 10-hour excursion, you’ll travel from Amman to Petra by air-conditioned sedan, stopping for a break during the 2.5-hour drive. Your driver will pick you up from your hotel in Amman around 07.00 am. You will be transferred to the rose-red city of Petra, the biggest attraction of Jordan 240km south of the capital, Amman. Petra was first established around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabataean Arabs, a nomadic tribe that settled in the area and laid the foundations of a commercial empire that extended into Syria. Upon arrival, you will begin the trip on horseback to the canyon to the so-called Siq, and then by foot to the most beautiful monument: the Treasury. Among other monuments you will see are the Street of Facades, the Royal Tombs, and Pharaoh’s Castle. Petra was also chosen to be one of the New 7 Wonders of the world. Once you are in Petra, at the Petra Visitor Center, a guide can be arranged (Optional) after your ticket purchase and your meeting point to start your tour into Petra. Your dedicated local tour guide (If Hired) will lead the tour inside of Petra and arrange entrance and logistics. It is advised to stay close to your guide to capture the details of the fascinating history of the Nabateans who built the city out of rocks.
