Amsterdam airport transfers: Everything you need to know

A culturally rich city filled with world-class museums, scenic canals, and colorful narrow houses, Amsterdam is a one-of-a-kind destination. Well-connected with trains, buses, trams, metros, and ferries, the city offers multiple ways to get around. Airport transfers, however, are the quickest and easiest way for you to get to and from the airport. Why waste time in the metro when you can get there quicker by car and save more time for sightseeing?

Why is it convenient to take an airport transfer in Amsterdam?

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is close to the city center, so it should only take you around 20 minutes to drive there, and closer to 30 minutes if there is any additional traffic. Known as a rainy city, booking an airport transfer can be much more pleasant than lugging your suitcases through puddles. Additionally, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is one of the largest travel hubs in all of Europe, meaning that it is generally very busy, making it easy for travelers to get lost and struggle to find their gate. Avoid the hassle of wandering aimlessly through the airport. Easily have an airport transfer drop you directly where you need to be.

If you’re taking a redeye flight, a transfer service can be particularly convenient, as between the hours of 1 am and 6 am, the local train from the city center to the airport runs only once per hour. Flying can already be stressful enough. The last thing anyone wants is to be stranded at a train station in the middle of the night.

What different types of airport transfers are offered in Amsterdam?

Depending on how much you are willing to pay and if you are in a rush or not, there are a few types of airport transfers for you to choose from. If you will be traveling with a group, your best bet is to opt for a minivan that can fit everyone together. If you will be traveling alone or just with one other person, you can get a vehicle for yourself.

Those that want to travel in style can even upgrade their transfer service to include a chic black car. For a more budget-friendly option, pick the shared bus, as this is the cheapest choice. The bus will take you directly to the city center, and there are even several stops to choose from depending on where you are staying, including Museumplein, Rijksmuseum, and Leidseplein.

What price can I expect to pay for an Amsterdam airport transfer?

For a regular private airport transfer for three to four people, expect to pay around 44 € for the entire group (approximately $48). If you will be taking the shared bus instead, your fare will cost closer to 11€ (approximately $12). Feeling like splurging and treating yourself to a ride in a black car? Plan on paying a minimum of 50€ (approximately $55), but probably closer to 60€ (approximately $65).

When should I schedule my airport transfer?

Because Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is such a busy airport, it is best to take care of everything well in advance, in order to save you from having any problems or stress. Make sure that you have your Amsterdam airport transfer booked a few days ahead of time, as it can be difficult to book one directly at the airport, and you will have access to better prices if you do so early. It’s also best to make sure that you leave extra early to get to the airport, as when traffic is bad, it can take a while to finally arrive at your specific terminal.

Whether you are flying internationally or domestically, plan on getting to the airport about two hours before your flight, just to make sure that you have enough time to get through Schiphol’s security. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, and no one wants to end up dealing with a missed flight while they are on vacation.

When you arrive at the airport, look for platform B17 and there the bus 397 will pass every 10 or 15 minutes, we get off at Leidsplein, pay attention to the stops on the screen. I took apart qr on mobile also on paper since I had read problems with reading the bus, but I look at them and arrkba! € 11.75 round trip very well, the same as in Bcn. I bought them online and perfect. Check how every bus stop to return to ours was opposite since the street was two-way. It is worth it if you are in the center if you do not create the train. THANK YOU

Its a great bus takes you from the airport to the city very fast and great for the night to return to the airport it coulnd scan my voucher in the bus but the drivers are pretty nice so just a proof of purchase on your email was enaugh. I recommend this

Everything went great. The machine couldn't scan the ticket properly but the bus driver waved me in. The bus was very comfortable and it only took 30 minutes to the center.

A must if you are staying in Amsterdam. Extremely simple and quick.
