Full description

Climb aboard an air-conditioned coach and travel through a typical Dutch landscape for 1.5 hours en route to the picturesque town of Giethoorn. Experience how the Dutch people live with, and on, the water upon arrival, and set off to explore on foot and by boat.

Enjoy the peace and quiet of a town where cars are forbidden and little has changed over the centuries. Admire the many types of boats in the town, from gondolas to punters and flat-bottom vessels used as transportation on the canals.

Cruise past the skillfully restored farmhouses on a 1-hour boat trip, and get some free time for lunch and to explore on your own. Get tips from your guide on what to see and where to eat. The tour will continue to the Enclosing Dike (Afsluitdijk), the 32-kilometer dike connecting the provinces of North Holland and Friesland. The Netherlands is famed the world over for the way it deals with water management.

The Afsluitdijk, built to tame what was formerly the Zuiderzee (now the Ijsselmeer lake) is a prime example of Dutch water prowess.

Exactly as described on the website, and we were lucky with the weather! The village was beautiful and you get plenty of time to enjoy it however you want to. The only thing I will say is that the stop at the enclosing dike felt a little pointless to me since they are no longer allowed to stop on the actual file but rather just after it. And you stop somewhere where you can’t really see it. But it’s not too much of a big deal since the real reason you’re there is for Geithoorn so.

The place is as beautiful as seen in pictures! The guide was very nice and friendly and even provided us with free wifi on board. I think that the enclosing dyke can be skipped from the tour as it doesnt have much to offer. The bus ride is a bit long so it can get boring getting to the place and coming back but that is nobody’s fault!

We were in a double decker bus with Spanish speaking people as well and our guide Alfredo spoke lots if Spanish and apart from on the bus he did not mix with English speaking guests. The music on the way back was terrible. They should have split the group as with Cameleon tours. Giethoorn is Awesome. They should slit the groups
