El Teide: Full-Day Road Cycling Route on Fridays

3. El Teide: Full-Day Road Cycling Route on Fridays

Join the dream of every cyclist, crowning the longest climb in Europe and the most frequented by the international pack. Head to La Camella to start warming up for about 15 kilometers. The journey to Granadilla will be very comfortable and will allow you to loosen your legs a little. The climb is from 12 kilometers to 5 - 6% of slope. Once in Vilaflor, tackle the most complicated part, a 14-kilometer climb without rest. The average of the ramps is 8% but the main obstacle is the acclimatization due to the decrease of the pressure of the oxygen, as you climb about 2,100 on the way to Retamar. Descend to the Teide National Park, the highest area of the island Tenerife and Spain, just 8 kilometers to the National Parador, a place chosen by professional cyclists for their preseason. Head roughly 45 kilometers down to Playa de las Americas, enjoying the views.

What people are saying about Arona, Tenerife

Awesome experience. Got to see a few dolphins (from afar, because you’re not allowed to go to close to the fishfarm) and saw a few turtles. I also saw a turtle close by when we were snorkeling! Unfortunately the dolphins didn’t give us a show but i guess that’s how nature works :) would definitely recommend doing this kayak tour! This was my favorite experience in Tenerife!

Was an incredibly fantastic experience for me as a cyclist. Definitely a must for every cycling tourist but certainly not to be underestimated. Good bikes and guidance. If you are a cyclist on Tenerife, you should definitely do this.

It was really nice. Great introduction to and explanation of how to behave in heavy waves. Everything worked great and both turtles and dolphins were seen. Overall very successful but also exhausting.

our guide was really friendly and we saw dolphins! We didn‘t se turtles but that was olay, we had a lot of fun snorkeling !

Very fun, in addition to being good exercise since it is a fairly generous kayak trip, spectacular views of the island
