Full description
Depart from Athens early in the morning via the National Highway on this full-day sightseeing tour to the sacred ruins of Delphi. You will pass through the towns of Thebes, Levadia and Arachova as you drive to the site of the Delphic oracle and explore the famous site, known in ancient times as the “Navel of the World.” The 8-hour sightseeing tour will take you past Castalia Spring, continuing on to visit the archaeological site of the Temple of Apollo and the Museum of Delphi. Explore the spectacular attractions from classical Greece, including the bronze Charioteer, the Naxian Sphinx, and the Statue of Antinoos. After lunch, return to Athens via the picturesque mountain village of Arachova, built on the southern slopes of Mount Parnassus. Well known for its attractive hand-woven carpets, rugs and quilts, as well as for its wine and cheese, you will make a short stop, with time to buy some souvenirs, before arriving back in Athens early in the evening.

Overall, I'm very happy we took this trip. However, because of traffic, it took 2-3 hours longer than we anticipated. The food was so-so, and while it claimed we could have .5 L of wine included, we had to pay for it when we arrived. Glad we went but just manage your expectations.

The trip was excellent. However, we would like to suggest that you have two guides if there are two language groups on the same bus. One had to wait for both language groups to be accommodated as far as the commentary was concerned. That took up time that could have been spent exploring the site on your own. At times we felt rushed. The list of what was included in the price of the tour included a drink of your choice. This was not so and it should be corrected on the ticket information.

Nice one day tour but improved

The tour in Delphi was very nice thanks to the skill of the guide Maria Asimina who explained, in English, not only the site of Delphi but also the history of ancient and modern Greece. Lunch is shameful (white rice with vegetables, salad and a chicken leg and drinks to be paid separately) bring a sandwich and use lunch time to see the bottom of the Delphi site (where there is the circular temple dedicated to Athena Pronaia which we have not seen). The visit to Arachova is a way to shop for souvenirs in the partner shop. It would be a great tour if they took off lunch and the gift shop to show Delfi's most beautiful temple instead
