Full description

Meet your licensed tour guide, an experienced archaeologist, and then start your unique combination of a tour. Enter from the south slope of the acropolis and set off on your leisurely walking tour of some of the world’s finest monuments.

Along the way, listen as your guide shares knowledgeable insight into the citadel’s ruins including excavation details. Visit the Theater of Dionysus, an amphitheater that is arguably the birthplace of performing arts.

Perch yourself on a stone seat to imagine the sights and sounds experienced by ancient theatergoers who came to watch plays by Greek writers Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides.

Also, pass the Odeon of Herodes Atticus; the theater is still used today during the Athens Festival from May to October. Find peace and quiet at an Asclepius, a healing temple that honored the god of medicine Asclepius, before the Parthenon.

Wander around the temple to learn about how it was constructed for the goddess Athena. Once you familiarize yourself with the site's classical architecture, head indoors to the New Acropolis Museum for a brief break and refreshments (at own expense) in the cafe.

Ranked one of the top 5 museums in the world, the New Acropolis Museum boasts collections of statues and other relics of everyday life in several galleries. In the Gallery of the Slopes of the Acropolis, the glass floor occasionally reveals an archaeological excavation site.

We took the acropolis and museum tour. Kostas was a funny, and knowledgeable guide that brought ancient scenes to life and set the acropolis into the important context it provided for the different centuries that used the temples. Kostas has a passion that is infectious to the group. Wear comfortable shoes! The museum is a must do add on

We met our guide at the office at 9:00 AM and were provided with headsets and one earpiece which were very clear with the guide speaking and it didn't inhibit your surroundings hearing from the other area. Our guide was Dionysus and he was excellent both in personalaty and exceptional knowledge. Paul and Judith from the UK He literally didn’t stop talking for the whole 4 hours all the way up the Acropolis and round the museum. He also actively encouraged further and wider questions for example Greek history and mythology, along with the specifics of that tour history visited. I would highly recommend the guide and he clearly is dedicated and loves his job. Also the tour company in general appeared to be well organised and had contingencies for late guests and problem headsets ect. Thank you very much for making our experience very enjoyable and it has to be said that a professional guide is paramount otherwise you would miss so much knowledge.

We had a wonderful tour. Dorian was a great tour guide. We were worried about the walk up the Acropolis and that the three of us would not be able to keep up. But Dorina walked us up slowly and stopped every few minutes to explain the sites and educate us on so many little details we would’ve never known. Great time and very informative!
