Heraklion/Malia: Santorini Guided Day Tour to Oia and Fira

9. Heraklion/Malia: Santorini Guided Day Tour to Oia and Fira

Santorini is a small, circular archipelago of volcanic islands located in the southern Aegean Sea, about 200 km south-east from Greece's mainland. It is the most active volcanic center in the Aegean Arc, though what remains today is largely a caldera. The name Santorini was given to it by the Venetians in the 13th century and is a reference to Saint Irene. Before then it was called Kallisti, Strongili or Thera. Today, Santorini is the only inhabited Caldera (volcano cauldron) in the world. Unlike other islands in Greece, the towns and villages sit densely on top of the massive cliffs of the Caldera and from a distance appear like snow capping the towering mountain tops. The colored strata of the volcanic rock of these cliffs are spectacular in themselves: chocolate brown, rust red, yellow ochre, white and cream. Transfer from your hotel / accommodation to the Heraklion harbor 8.30 a.m. Departure from Heraklion to Santorini with the Ferry boat 10.45 a.m. Arrival in Santorini, Athinios port. Departing from Athinios to Oia (by bus), accompanied by guides who will be at your services throughout the excursion. OIA: The oldest village in Santorini. Stroll around its small alleys and stone built streets, filled with culture and tradition. The harmony of the colors of the sea and the sun, the wonderful view, bear the spirit of Hellenism and make Oia incomparable. FIRA: The capital of Santorini where you have free time to explore the picturesque traditional little alleys. There you will have the opportunity to enjoy the most spectacular view, including the volcanic surroundings, the colors of the sea and the sun, as well as the traditional architectural style. 17.30 p.m. Departure from Santorini with Sunset view 19.45 p.m. Arrival in Heraklion Port

It was truly breathtaking. The captain and the guide were very kind and gave all instructions. The guide even called my phone before the boat left the harbor just to make sure we were coming. The first stop is the volcano hill climb which was amazing and beautiful. So many beautiful sights, it was truly one of a kind. 2nd stop was the hotsprings, It really was warm hotub feeling once you swim over, the boat can only get so close. Hightly recommend.

a little confusing with the instructions in the email. instructions noted to drop off and pickup at the same location. wasn't sure if price paid was for round trip or one way. i assumed one way so i booked transfer to and from airport separately.

The driver waited for me with my name sign at the arrival hall. Because it's only one person so the car could go straight to my hotel taking only 10 min.

Nice trip to explore the volcanic mountain and swim in the sea. Beautiful views, really enjoyed it.

Very good organization, explanations and well detailed history of the island
