Full description
Challenge yourself to climb the highest peak in North Africa in 2 days. The tour starts and finishes in the vibrant city of Marrakech, and includes transport to and from Imlil. You will trek with a local English-speaking guide, a local cook, and mules to carry your luggage. This is a challenging walk rather than a climb, and anybody in good physical condition can reach the top. Make sure you bring your camera; the views from the summit are spectacular. Mount Toubkal 4167m is the highest peak in North Africa, and is a trekking peak involving no climbing but may involve walking in crampons or holding an ice axe for security (November to April). The itinerary has been designed for keen walkers, as the ascent is non-technical, but does involve some easy scrambling and snow slopes. After the first day spent trekking, you will stay at the refuge where you will spend the night, and enjoy Berber hospitality. After an early breakfast the next day, set off and reach the summit as the sun rises, rewarding you with amazing views. The views from the summit are amazing across the mountains to Marrakech to the north, and the start of the Sahara to the south. During the ascent you will be rewarded with stunning views of the Atlas Mountains, green valleys, and Berber Villages.

Amazing experience, and the guide Hassan went beyond to make everything so pleasant and perfect! The food served was also very good (and there was plenty of it). The only negative part about the experience was that it was impossible to get in contact with the company beforehand, and they only confirmed my pick up location at 8pm the night before. Also if you do the hike in the winter bring proper clothing as it can get very cold. Would definitely recommend, and if you get Hassan as your guide consider yourself lucky!

Just an incredible experience. The climb itself is tough but achievable. If your in good shape you’ll be fine. From the moment we got to Imlil the experience was amazing Hassan and all the guides/Berbers were very attentive and fun to be around. It’s was organised and the view from the summit is all worth it. My only caveat is everything before Imlil. I didn’t receive any confirmation or information about my trip/where I was getting picked up until 8pm the day before despite calling and emailing multiple times. I’d say it seemed very disorganised before the day itself. That being said it was all worth it!

My experience was good. In december the weather can be challenging so I recommend the winter season for those who have some hiking experience. We could rent all the snow gear before our tour started and the meals were good. I would say that the breakfast before the summit was not enough for the amount of energy you will spend so hopefully the company can improve this. But just in case, bring some protein bars or some snacks that give you energy to complement the breakfast. The landscapes are amazing.
