Full description

Take an exciting in-depth view of Famagusta and learn about the city's ongoing state of affairs with the Ghost Town and the illegal occupation of the Northern territories. Start your tour with a pickup by your friendly guide at your accommodation. After a short meet and greet you will set off on your journey. Start by seeing Famagusta as it is considered today: an abandoned ghost town.

Get some insight into the history of the area by watching a short film showcasing Famagusta before the invasion. Then, continue on your adventure to the border and drive along the fence which surrounds this once glamorous city.

You'll arrive on the area's renowned sandy beach and get a closeup view of the deserted hotels that line the coast. Get some time to stroll the streets of the ghost town to see the abandoned hotels, homes, and shops.

Next, you'll circle the moat of the old gothic city where the castle walls tower over you. Before the end of the trip, enjoy time to explore the city within the castle walls where 356 churches and cathedrals once stood. Witness centuries of history that have gone by.

A great and impressive tour into the contemporary history of Cyprus. George, our guide, gave us a really good introduction to the ghost town of Famagusta and the "new part" of the city. The 4.5 hours for the tour are well designed and sufficient. Around noon you are already back at the hotel.

it was a beautiful excursion. The group consisted of 6 people + guide / driver. We had a nice walk in the ghost maritime area and it was very engaging. then we headed to the historic center where we had 1 hour (enough) to roam free among the characteristic ruins. Certainly recommended

Fantastic and interesting excursion. Fun and nice guide. Full of humor. However, we expect more guidance and facts. But personally, it still made up for it that he was so fun & nice. The bus pick up at the agreed time, booked the excursion with a small group, Unfortunately the movie we were supposed to see was not available. It was holiday times & difficult with staff. But we got to go up and see a view of Farmagusta and the guide told us a little about the history. Would love to have more facts and how it all started. Further into Farmagusta and the guide tells a short story. Inside the ghost town we walk for 1.5 hours, very tragic to see how all these houses & hotels decay. The guide tell and show. There, too, we wanted a little more guidance and history. We had to ask questions all the time and then he answered. On to a small village nearby, where we had 1.5 hours to stroll and see churches and the fine old ring wall. Very hot & oppressive, but there were a few resta
