I’m so glad that I booked this trip! The drivers were outstanding and so was the tour guide. We had breakfast and lunch together. Both meals were tasty. Be prepared for a long drive. Bangalore traffic is awful. The first temple at Shravanabelagola is quite a climb. It’s something like 1600 steps carved into the rock face. The views are spectacular and so is the 57 ft statue of Gommateshwara. The temples at Belur and Halebeedu are equally impressive. Ladies, bring some travel Kleenex, the bathrooms are rustic.

Excellent driver and tour guide at the sites

The drive from Bengaluru was a lot longer than I’d anticipated (several hours each way), but the driver we had was so calm and friendly that it made it very enjoyable. He took us to a restaurant on the way for breakfast which had fantastic dosa. And the tour guide at the temple sites share a lot of details about the stories behind the statues and carvings that made it much more enjoyable than if we’d just walked around on our own. I highly recommend it.
