Krakow: Country Bike Tour to the Tyniec Abbey

3. Krakow: Country Bike Tour to the Tyniec Abbey

This country tour takes you along the Vistula river to Tyniec; a small town 12 kilometers west of Krakow, famous for its 11th-century Benedictine abbey. The abbey played a crucial military role in Poland's Christian restoration and the nation's rebuilding. Your tour will begin along the Vistula River, over a smooth bike path which will lead you through Southern Poland's picturesque countryside. You will pass through age-old woods, see crumbling forts, and cycle past some of the lakes that surround Krakow. Upon arrival at Tyniec, you will have the chance to explore the ancient grounds, enjoy a snack, take photographs of the scenery, and visit the gift shop (which is full products prepared by local monks). The essence of the tour is a relaxed, scenic country ride, rather than the stop-start nature of a city tour. You will cover a total of 25 kilometers (15.5 miles), on a ride which lasts for almost 4.5 hours, departing in the afternoon and returning in the evening. A backpack is recommended, as it will allow you to transport food, water and gifts back from the abbey.

Having stayed in Krakow for several times, we now stay outside the city. Some 15 tramstops in fact. This card was invaluable for the amount of travel we did. The places of interest we visited were almost all free because of this card. You have to know what you plan to do and visit before you decide to purchase this card. We purchased the 3 day city with transport but there several different cards available.

The KrakowCard is such a great concept. Once we arrived in Krakow the cards were easy to pick up from central Krakow. You can determine there and then when you want the card to be valid from. A great selection of attractions available and the use of the tram is priceless.

Easy to use and great benefit when using the trams & buses. Good value when visiting the many attractions.

Excellent, cheap way of visiting lots of interesting places

It useful for free museums and unlimited transport!
