Full description

Discover central Berlin by twilight on a boat cruise along its major waterway, the River Spree. Hop aboard, sit back, relax, and see the main sights of the city from the calm waters in the evening light, feeling the pulse of the bustling city. Start your cruise by Friedrichstraße and pass the Federal Chancellery with its floor-to-ceiling glass walls and modern architecture. Make your way to the pristine white building and manicured garden of Bellevue Palace, overlooking the Victory Column and surrounded by the leafy Tiergarten park.

See the Berlin Central Station with its green glass structure and the Interior Ministry in Moabit before continuing to the iconic and rococo Charlottenburg Palace. Once a royal summer residence, the palace today is Berlin's largest and most magnificent one. Then, cruise past Westhafen Canal, the Berlin-Spandau Ship Canal, the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Hamburger Bahnhof. Finally, head back to Friedrichstraße, where your tour ends.

The boat ride is 2 hours. The first hour is actually quite lovely, seeing all the national landmarks in daylight. The second hour gets quite chilly on the upper deck and it's too dark to see the lesser known sites, as described in the audio guide. The narrative is mostly about the many bridges the boat goes under. The audio guide took awhile to figure how to use, however it did provide some interesting facts. The audio guide is pre-recorded, so there is no opportunity for questions onboard. Perhaps the crew can make some opening remarks on how to set up the audio guide. The crew only repeatedly came around to take food/beverage orders. Overall, it was decent low impact sightseeing. The Spree is very calming.

Wonderful way to see the city from a different perspective, got to see other areas away from the main central part too. Very peaceful & perfect duration, lovely to do on a gorgeous evening like tonight but not great if weather had been poor as limited space downstairs & with very restricted views. Our English translation handsets were not openly offered when we boarded & only worked intermittently. The German commentary through loudpeaker is very loud! Don't choose a seat too close to one! Reasonably priced drinks are available on board but service was a bit patchy. Overall would definitely recommend it.
