Full description

Go on a guided walking tour through Bogatá’s El Paraíso favela district. Hop on a cable car, meet with community leaders, learn about the local life, and see technicolor graffiti-filled walls.

Start your journey with either hotel pickup, or a bus transfer, accompanied by your guide. Arrive at the cable car station and begin your ride up the hill to El Paraiso.

Takin in the panoramic views as your soar over the city. Gaze down at the colorful houses, and get a bird's eye view of the harsh living realities faced by the residents.

After your ascent, head off on a walking tour with your local guide to get a feel for the neighborhood. Wander the bustling avenues, spotting street art among the neon-painted houses and narrow boulevards.

Meet local community leaders in charge of the New Life Foundation, learning about the positive changes that are being put into place to help revitalize this vibrant, yet underserved district. Continue to the best spot for panoramic views over the entire city, then try a traditional Colombian snack to get a feel for local culinary culture. Afterwards, head back down on the cable car, having seen a glimpse into one of Bogotá's most notorious favelas.

If you're thinking about doing this experience - do it! It's such a different side to see if Bogita from the north and the La Candelaria districts. Fransisco is a wealth of knowledge. We particularly enjoyed the dog who followed us all the way from the cable car stop at the top to the end of the tour, to be fed by Fransisco - his friend! 10/10 tour.

Our last tour on this trip started at 7am to go to Ciudad Bolivar. Our tour guide Francisco picked us up at our hotel lobby , and we walked to the bus stop to ride the Transmilenio (the main public transportation) the quickest way to get there. We rode two different buses then rode a Cable car also a public transportation that took us to El Paraiso, Bolivar. Carole Lemaine and I were nervous to be honest but we completed our tour and we are back at our hotel safely. Our tour guide is very knowledgeable about the history, and spoke good English. On the top of El Paraiso , you can see a lot of murals on the side of the houses painted by different artist. And beautiful view of Bogota, It was beautiful. It was a different experience and if ever go, you must go with a tour guide for safety♥️. Carole and I were glad we did it , we blend in with locals riding local transportation and seeing where most of them lives. It was an experience, and we feel that we are so blessed and fortunate.
