Know before you go

  • The time slot is an indication and not a guarantee because waiting lines are common during peak hours
  • Apart from the upper sphere, which is accessible by lift, the rest of the Atomium is not easy to access for people with restricted mobility, and unfortunately it is not suitable for wheelchairs
  • There are 80 steps to walk up and 167 steps to walk down, and it is impossible to avoid this
  • You are advised to visit when the attraction opens and to avoid peak time (between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM) when there is a large influx of visitors
  • After 3:30 PM the flow of visitors tends to reduce
  • During the holiday periods, the attraction can be very crowded which can cause longer waiting times
  • You are invited to check the activity provider's Facebook and Google pages which shows the number of visitors in real time
  • Due to COVID, your admission time may be somewhat delayed due to slower lines for the elevator

a tram ride out of the city (couple of stations nearby) - although was transport strike when we went so a 10/15m walk from station we used. Wonderful site on a sunny day. Interesting enough inside (but not so much for kids). However, kids did enjoy the light based art installation and illuminated escalators. Book table if you want to eat at top - could get busy.

Very nice place. Buying the tickets before going is the best option to avoid the long line. I'm afraid that the accessibility there is limited, once there are lots of stairs. If you would like to join the restaurant at the top of the museum make a reservation beforehand (food prices are ok, and the view is very nice).

It symbolizes a crystallized molecule of iron that has been magnified to about 165 billion times. it's a must visit if you're in Brussels! a mere 30 minute metro ride from the city center. every sphere has something different to offer - the history on how it was built and the early years & one of the spheres has hypnotic light and sound show. the top sphere, for me, was the best. it offered 360 degree views of the city until miles and miles away.
