Full description

This full-day tour of the mighty Danube is ideal for people who want to combine history with nature and would like to enjoy some of the most beautiful countrysides in Hungary. You will see historic monuments and art memorials while your guide provides a lively narrative of Hungarian life. You will visit the 750-year-old Royal Residence at Visegrád where you will learn about life in the Middle Ages while enjoying spectacular views of the Danube Valley. At Esztergom, the northern gate of Budapest, you will pause at the largest cathedral in the country and see the burial sites of famous cardinals as you gaze across the water towards Slovakia. Cross the river and border into Slovakia to see the stunning view from the opposite side.  You will stop at an artists' village in Szentendre, a baroque city located where the Danube River meets the Pilis Mountains. Wander the narrow streets to soak up the magical atmosphere and catch panoramic vistas of the river. You will have time to visit some of the museums, such as the world-famous Margit Kovács Ceramic Museum or the Confectionery Museum, where the buildings and people are made of marzipan. Browse the shops of the village if you prefer, before the return journey to Budapest. Travel during the months of May through September and this will be on a magical boat cruise, a fitting way to arrive back in the city center.

Our tour with our guide Clara and driver George was excellent! Clara was very knowledgeable and engaging! She not only gave us a wealth of information on the history and culture of Hungary but shared many stories about the people of Hungary and life in Budapest in general. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the Basilica in Estergom and the village of Szendedre. Lunch at the Panoramic restaurant was excellent as well! Overall a great day and great value for this tour! If she is available try to book with Clara!

Nice excursion in a comfortable bus to discover different sites. The restaurant for the meal is very well located on the heights and offers a nice look. I deplore on the other hand that the welcome drink is a strong alcohol, without any other possible option.☹ I therefore had nothing, apart from the water included in the menu and despite the fact that I requested it. Time a bit short in Szentendre. Return by pleasant boat.

Excellent ! Excursion to do without hesitation The guide VERA is just adorable and very passionate. She really listens to us and tells us the history of Budapest with a lot of joy and humor, which makes the excursion very lively. We were a group of 20 people. We pick you up by car in front of your hotel then take you to the EURAMA office and then we all go to a very comfortable and air-conditioned bus. We had 2 guides, one English speaking and our French speaking. The 2 guides, although elderly, were very competent and patient. After 1h30 of road, a stop in Slovakia then we return to Hungary visit the Basilica then drive to eat with a paranomic view of the castle of the clouds then stroll in the village and we end with a one hour cruise on the Danube. Although a little expensive, Excellent value for money If you are French, make a special request to have Madame VERA as your guide, you will not be disappointed
