  • Byron Bay: Sea Turtle Snorkel Tour in Julian Rocks Reserve

    1. Byron Bay: Sea Turtle Snorkel Tour in Julian Rocks Reserve

Head out to sea on a fun snorkel tour around the unique Julian Rocks Marine Reserve, as it combines the marine life found in the deep Southern Ocean as well as that found in the tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef. Enjoy a 1-hour swim alongside sea turtles and a wide variety of other underwater creatures. Arrive at the Byron Bay Dive Centre either at your scheduled departure time, or, if you’d like a free snorkel lesson, arrive 30 minutes before departure to practice in the heated pool. All tour participants must be able to swim to participate in this tour. Receive a short safety briefing before heading out to the Julian Rocks Marine Reserve. Journey to The Pass, about a 10-minute ride, and learn about this snorkeling spot. Get in the water for a 1-hour swim allowing you to spot underwater creatures such as small wobbegong sharks, hard and soft corals, an assortment of rays, and ...

If you like snorkelling... this location “Julian Rocks” is a MUST DO! We saw 4 sea turtlea and so many Leppard sharks and massive sting rays. Quite incredible!!! The only downside of this experience is that it is often cancelled due to weather conditions. Ours was cancelled the first time just 15 min prior to departure and almost again the second time at time of departure. It’s no ones fault (it’s the weather!) so just be prepared to be flexible. We had no trouble rebooking for a few days later and they offer full refunds.

It took us about 20 minutes to get to the Crystal Castle. I absolutely loved it there. The whole place is so magical and surrounded with pure nature, therefore the view of byron’s hinterland was marvellous. I was a bit afraid of the thought that the place would be full of tourists but this wasn’t the case at all. We had plenty of time to stroll around the whole area which was provided with a considerable number of stunning crystals and interesting figures. I also took part in two extremely informative and interesting workshops which were definitely a highlight of the day.
