Full description
This fun exclusive tour allows you to join in a real aboriginal cultural experience, combining the pristine natural beauty of the World Heritage Listed Daintree National Park with its truly exciting ecosystem. This is a day you will never forget.  Travel to Cooya Beach, north of Port Douglas, to meet with the Kubirri Warra brothers who follow the traditions of their ancestors. This unique coastal place is a traditional fishing ground of the Kuku Yalanji and has three diverse ecosystems, beach, mangroves, and a coastal reef. The brothers will teach you how to throw a spear and demonstrate how to search and hunt for fish, mud crabs, and mussels. Learn about bush tucker and medicines before enjoying the catch of the day. Depart Cooya Beach for Mossman Gorge and be welcomed to Country Ceremony, where you will be greeted with a traditional smoking ceremony. This ceremony is conducted by Aboriginal people with specialized cultural knowledge to welcome people to their land. It is a ceremony of spiritual cleansing to ward of evil spirits and to ensure that while you on the traditional land of Kuku Yalanji people, you are accepted and honored.  Enjoy a delicious lunch infused with local flavors at Mossman Gorge Centre. The Rainforest Walk option. Wander into the lush rainforest of the World Heritage Listed Daintree National Park, home of the Kuku Yalanji people and experience one of the world's oldest and most beautiful rainforests. An easy going walk is across boardwalks, tracks, and bridges protecting the delicate ecosystem. Your guide will explain the rich flora and fauna and ecosystem of this amazing rainforest.  With the Ngadiku Walk option, join an experienced Aboriginal guide for a 1.5 hour walk at Mossman Gorge, demonstrating traditional plant use, bush foods and more. Your Aboriginal guide will provide an enchanting narrative of the ancient rainforest and the Kuku Yalanji's special relationship with this unique environment. Your day of discovery comes to a end as you are taken back to your accommodation in Cairns, Northern Beaches, or Port Douglas.

The tour was excellent! The guides are lovely, full of wisdom and very hospitable. They are a wealth of knowledge and will seek to answer any question you may have. It was exciting and an honour to learn about the local Aboriginal people, especially the Kuku Yalanji people. If you're looking for a unique experience, to get in touch with your spiritual and/or wild side I would definitely recommend this trip!

I loved this tour as it really demonstrates the Aboriginal Culture. I learned so much of just how we can live off the land. Nature that we just walk past all can provide hidden remedies that now I have some knowledge of and can share with others. Keeping in mind for survival and connecting with the earth!

Bridget, Brandon, Aaron and everyone else associated with the tour were very knowledgeable and freely shared this with us. No questions went unanswered. I learned so much that upon returning to my hotel I had to write it all down and have already started to share it with my friends and family!
