Full description

Explore the rich history of Alexandria; tracing time from its ancient Egyptian roots, through the Classical period, to Roman times and beyond on an informative full-day guided tour from Cairo. Stop for a delicious local lunch and enjoy bottled water on your trip.

Enjoy pick-up and drop off from your Cairo hotel and an airconditioned bus ride to the Roman theater in Kom El-Deka; a marble theater that once seated 800 spectators in its galleries. View sections of mosaic flooring and a pleasure garden which is surrounded by Roman baths and villas. Continue to the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, a necropolis with 3 sublevels which dates back to the 2nd century AD. See the Roman triclinium, a banquet hall to honor the dead. Admire its statues, reliefs, and a pillared lobby featuring depictions of Egyptian gods in Roman armor. See the site of the Alexandria Library and walk the ramparts of the 15th century Qaitbay Citadel, which was built upon the ruins of the ancient Alexandria Lighthouse. End your day of discovery with a relaxed evening drive back to your hotel in Cairo.

The guide, Mahmoud, was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. He is the best guide we have had in our entire trip to Egypt. I advise you to ask for Mahmoud if you book this trip. This has been an enjoyable and educational event for our own family.

short summary the guide and driver very good. How it is arranged and employership can be improved somewhat. all in all a good tour definitely recommended The booking went smoothly and everything was neatly arranged. I was to be picked up at 6 am. However, I realized that this was 20 minutes later. Neatly communicated so no problem. Unfortunately, the driver only spoke Arabic and I did not, so that took some getting used to. The driver was also very friendly and drove well (as far as that is possible in Egypt, what a chaos) With google translate we got quite far so the language barrier was also reasonably resolved. Once on location, the friendly guide was waiting. She took me to all places and the driver as a taxi in between. I found no downsides. During lunch it was clear that I got it and the guide nothing. This one was also waiting for me to finish eating (being an employer?) Arranging entrance behind the scenes with the locations as an operator makes the tour smoother

We were picked up on time from our hotel lobby and driven to Alexandria. Our driver made a stop to allow us to purchase a coffee since it was an early start. We met our guide in Alexandria who was lovely and very knowledgeable. We had a lovely lunch overlooking the water with nice fish and freshly cooked pita bread. Overall it was a nice day.
