Rome: Best Squares and Fountains Private Tour

2. Rome: Best Squares and Fountains Private Tour

Explore the enchanting piazzas and fountains of Rome's historic city center as you wander through serpentine streets and cobbled walkways in the company of an expert local guide. Enjoy a private tour specially designed and customized based on your interests and preferences. Pull up a chair in Rome's great open-air drawing room, the Piazza Navona, whose origins as an ancient racetrack are still obvious in its distinctive shape. For centuries this was the meeting place of choice for the city's elites who came to mingle in the shadow of Bernini's brilliant Fountain of the Four Rivers (Fiumi Fountain) and Borromini's no less impressive Sant'Agnese in Agone church.  In the area around the Spanish Steps, walk in the footsteps of the great poets and painters of the past who ventured to Rome hoping to be inspired by the city’s artistic masterpieces and vivid colors. Today it’s home to luxury shopping boutiques and a wondrous fountain by Bernini, but in the 1800s this was the stomping ground of brilliant English writers like John Keats and Percy Shelley. Nearby you'll gaze up in awe at the majestic Trevi Fountain, a delight for all the senses as sea gods and Tritons loom out of its deafening cascading waters. Visit the remarkable Pantheon — a miraculously preserved testament to the engineering brilliance of the ancient Romans — and find out how its giant columns were transported to Rome from as far away as Egypt. Discover the secrets behind its staggeringly large dome pierced by a central oculus, still the largest unsupported concrete dome ever built.  If your walking tour falls on a Sunday when the Pantheon is closed to visitors, you’ll instead admire and learn all about the amazing edifice from a spectacular vantage point in the Piazza della Rotonda outside.

It was very good, I went with my children and they enjoyed it very much; you could choose a language and everything was clearly explained using pictures and 3D animations from the origins of Rome to the present day.

Top top really, we go back from the beginning and it's incredible because we can not imagine how it was from the ruins

Very interesting - the 3D reconstructions are super well done - essential to understand Rome

a nice simple virtual tour, but with a precise description of the history of Rome.

Great to see. Everybody should see it before visiting Rome
