Full description

Starting near the lower cable car station, this hike will take 3-4 hours to the top. Look out for indigenous flora, like the King Protea, wander at the spectacular rock formations, like the India Venster (“Window” in Afrikaans), and witness views as far as the eye can see, taking in Robben Island and the whole of Table Bay. The sense of adventure is amazing!

Know before you go

This is a strenuous hike and is only suitable for people who are relatively fit. The hike involves scrambling and exposure to heights (narrow ledges – nothing extreme) about 15% of the way. For those with extreme height phobias, this may not be the hike for you. Kasteelspoort (12 Apostles) hike, Platteklip Gorge, or Skeleton Gorge hike are recommended as alternatives. All of these hikes end at the Upper Cableway where you will take the cableway down

Nice tour

Really nice hyking tour to discover Capetown and Table Mountain from a different perspective. Our guide Irene was obliging and very experienced. She introduces us to a lot of new local plants and guided us very well to the top of the mountain. The route is not easy and requests some scrambling but with Irene we always felt save. The route in general is amazing and offers a unique panorama of Capetown. I highly recommend tgia tour for everone who is seeking for some adventure.

Our hike up with Cliff was truly an unforgettable experience! He has a vast knowledge of the history/fauna of the landscape and would share this when we stopped to catch our breaths and admire the views. His enthusiasm to share his love of the outdoors was infectious and we laughed/sang and scrambled our way to the top! We cannot recommend him enough and can’t wait to visit again for a longer hike!

Fantastic hiking activity, well planned along with a great guide (OTC)

I had a wonderful time doing the hike. Cliff from OTC is an accomplished, fantastic guide with a main concern about safety of the hikers. He took good care of me, showed the tricky areas of the trail, and the day was a perfect hiking activity full of beautiful, wonderful views from the marvellous city of Cape Town. I plan to return to South Africa, and definitely I plan to do the hiking again along with some friends; but definitely I would book the hiking tour with GET YOUR GUIDE but I would request Cliff as our guide. He is synonym of safety and enjoyment during the activity. Thank you Get Your Guide and Cliff from OTC for such delightful day of hiking.
