Montserrat & Cava Wineries Day Trip from Barcelona w/ Pickup

1. Montserrat & Cava Wineries Day Trip from Barcelona w/ Pickup

Depart Barcelona and drive towards the Catalan Pre-Coastal Range for a morning visit to the Benedictine abbey of Santa Maria de Montserrat, world-renowned for its shrine to the Virgin of Montserrat, also known as the "Black Madonna." Marvel at the monastery and its surrounding scenery on a curious-shaped rock that rises 2,380 feet above sea level. Go inside the monastery to see its main attractions, including the Romanesque icon of the "Black Madonna" thought to date back to the 12th century. Get unparalleled views of the magical landscape, declared a national park in 1987. Next, visit the Santa Cova ("Holy Grotto") where, according to legend, the virgin appeared before some shepherd children in a vision. Benefit from the chance to hear the angelic voices of La Escolania de Montserrat (Montserrat’s Boys’ Choir ), one of the oldest children's choirs in Europe (subject to seasonal availability). Then, head to Sant Sadurní d'Anoia in the heart of Catalonia's cava wine producing region and visit Premium Cava Winery, where the tradition of making sparkling wines date back almost 5 centuries. Visit the cellar and descent to the dungeons where the wine is secretly kept for several years. Learn by the hand of an expert viticultor on wine production and grapes growing. Taste 3 varieties of local wines and cavas paired with traditional cheeses and cold meats while enjoying great views of the Catalan countryside with the Montserrat mountain at the background. Hear about the process of producing cava at a family business that first produced it according to traditional methods in 1872, and by using grapes from the Penedès region.

Our guides Miguel and Dalma were the absolute bests. Miguel made the morning drive to Montserrat interesting with stories preparing us to the amazing sites. He made our whole day very comfortable. At Montserrat after the guided tour, we had plenty of free time to explore the natural park and it’s beauties on our own also. In the afternoon he drove us to one of the most famous wine regions of the whole country, where we had the opportunity to explore every step of making Cava (or more specifically Corpinat) thanks to Dalma. She is very knowledgeable and a true enthusiast. The icing on the cake was of course the tasting . All in all we had an amazing day with an amazing company!

We went in a van with 6 people. The guide Nuria was very attentive and explained all the points of the tour. We visited the monastery of Montserrat which has a beautiful view! From there we visited Cava Codorniu and had lunch at a restaurant called Mirador del Caves which has a set menu of 20 euros per person with starter, main course and dessert. It also includes water, Cava and red wine. In addition to the place being very beautiful, we love the food and we think the price is also very good! We ended with a visit and tasting at Llopart. I recommend and recommend this tour!

The tour was excellent! The time was enough to get to know the Monastery and also a Cava. We managed to watch the Coral, we visited the Museum too. Nuria, our guide, was perfect: great considerations, good driver and excellent tips! All quiet, pleasant and rich in information about the places. Appreciate!

Even on a cold, rainy day, this was a fantastic trip! The locations were beautiful, the wine was great, and André was extremely kind, accommodating and knowledgeable. We could not have asked for better!

The tour was terrific, Roger (tour guide) was knowledgeable and super fun, and we had a great group. Loved it!
