Really well organised tour in a beautiful area. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the park and adjusted the pace for our group. Gave us both a packed lunch for the hike and a warm meal after. Walk itself wasn’t too intense but given the altitude was plenty for a nice day trip to view the area without breaking the back. Overall really enjoyed and would recommend to any travellers.

The entire experience of visiting the national park was seamless! Our guide was knowledgeable and considerate of the whole group. The views were amazing. We left CDMX just after 7 am and returned almost exactly at 4 pm. The hike itself was 8.5 miles according to my watch with an elevation gain of 1500 ft total. We started at about 11,500 ft, so best to have spent some time acclimating in CDMX, which is around 8000 ft. Snacks, hydration, and a sandwich for the hike were all provided. We stopped at a small outdoor restaurant on the way back for a more substantial lunch, and this ended up being one of our favorite meals of the trip. I wore shorts, but would recommend pants, since there are some areas of high grass. The weather in April was otherwise perfect with a t-shirt and a light fleece or something for the morning. The drive back was a little unpleasant, as the van is pretty sparse and the traffic was very bad. Maybe not so great for someone who gets very car sick.

Bernardo and Gerardo were amazing guides who made sure everyone was ok constantly. While I’m an avid sea-level hiker the elevation and elevation gain took a bit out of me and they were very kind to help me with carrying my items and making me not feel pressured to go faster. Views were spectacular, the lunch and snacks were great, and they gave us equipment to use which was so essential. Separate tip - if you have breathable sneakers be aware that the fine sand will get inside. Also the ash-colored sand will get on you and your clothes so probably don’t go with light colors. Lastly bring a light jacket - when the clouds are overhead it gets chilly.
