10. Cham Islands: Day-Tour with Snorkeling from Da Nang
After being collected from your accommodation in Da Nang, you will travel to Hoi An by shuttle bus before taking a speedboat to Cham Island. It is the perfect spot for a day-trip, complete with snorkeling or diving over beautiful coral reefs. A delicious seafood lunch will be provided on the island, and you will also be able to walk along an "eco-tour" trail. It is highly recommended to stay overnight on the island, speedboat you with more time to explore and enjoy the stunning experience of sunset and sunrise. You will even be able to go fishing at night and experience a barbecue on the island.
There are many other interesting attractions for visitors, including fresh seafood, traditional crafts, swimming and sightseeing. Recently, important archaeological remains were found and these are now exhibited in a small museum near the main jetty. The island is rich in aquatic resources, with 165 hectares of coral and 500 hectares of seaweed. The waters around Cu Lao Cham are home to 135 species of coral, 4 species of tiger shrimp and 84 species of mollusk, many of which are listed in the World’s Red Book of Endangered Species.
The cluster of islands that make up Cham Island are also a Marine Protected Area (MPA) due to numerous important marine inhabitants, particularly beaches and coral reefs. The Marine Protected Area includes eight islands; the largest island Hon Lao which features magnificent beaches and forests, the township of Bai Lang which is a small harbor, a traditional fishing village (Bai Lang), temples, shrines and a pagoda. It is recognized as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Your tour will conclude at 3:00 PM at which point you will be transported back to Da Nang.
