Full description
Pedal your way along the popular Avon River Trail and take in the sights as you watch the landscape change from the city to the sea. Enjoy a relaxing bike ride as you explore the Red Zone and learn more about Christchurch and the earthquakes that created the Red Zone from your guide.  The 12km Avon River trail takes in a mixture of purpose-built cycle and walking track as well as roads that have been closed to motorised vehicles following the 2011 earthquake. No longer a demolition zone, the Avon River corridor is a green space that bridges the city and coast. Enjoy a coffee in the village of New Brighton, take in the pier and seaside air. There is plenty of time to explore with fantastic views of the Port Hills and a different perspective on Christchurch. Your knowledgeable guide will teach you the impact of the earthquakes that created the Red Zone and the vast history of Christchurch along the way, along with the regrowth of this beautiful and ever-changing city.
