1. Basel: 4-Hour Private City Tour
Meet your guide at your hotel or the river cruise terminal. Together, make your way into the city center. Begin the tour by visiting the Elisabethenkirche, a church in the Swiss revival Gothic style. Outside, see a unique fountain designed by the artist Jean Tinguely. After a short transfer on a typical Basel tram, arrive at the Gate of Spalen, a former city gate and one of the three remaining gateways. Head towards the University of Basel, Switzerland's oldest university founded in 1460. Continue towards the old town and walk through hidden squares and narrow alleyways before you arrive at the eye-catching sight at the market square and the city hall. Continue towards the cathedral and enjoy a beautiful view of the Rhine Hop on a ferry and cross the river. Explore the Kleinbasel district, originally an independent city built by immigrants and guest-workers. See the Messe Basel exhibition square and event hall in a complex designed by architects Herzog & de Meuron. Follow your guide towards the Roche tower building, the tallest building in Switzerland. From there, cross the Rhine river again and pass through the historic St. Alban district before arriving at the museum of art. The tour loop ends here and your guide will be happy to assist you in planning a museum visit, or leading you back to your hotel or cruise terminal.
