Tuscany Taster Tour: Day Trip from Rome with Lunch & Wine

1. Tuscany Taster Tour: Day Trip from Rome with Lunch & Wine

A comfortable, air-conditioned coach will pick you up in Rome. As you drive towards rolling hills, your expert tour guide will explain Tuscany’s rich culture and answer any questions you might have about the day ahead.  First, enjoy a walking tour in the hill town of Montepulciano. Take in an ancient but still-functioning wine cellar and ruins that pre-date Rome. Next visit San Biagio, a 16th-century Renaissance church with a travertine facade welcoming in the sunlight and exquisite decorations inside. Just a short drive away awaits a delicious Tuscan lunch. Enjoy a 3-course meal with wine pairings in the wine cellar of an authentic vineyard farmhouse, including the famous Brunello di Montalcino and varieties from the vineyard itself.  Buy your souvenir Tuscan wine here or wait for the final stop: Pienza. Your tour leader will offer insights, but your time is yours: shopping for pecorino cheese, balsamic vinegar, wines, and other local specialties, finding the right photo opportunity, or simply wandering the streets like a local. Next, return to Rome in air-conditioned comfort — fulfilled, relaxed, and ready for the next day.

From Rome: Private Day-Tour of Tuscany

2. From Rome: Private Day-Tour of Tuscany

Take a break from the chaos of Rome with a Tuscan holiday. The tour focuses on the famous Val D’Orcia region, visiting the historic hill towns of Montepulciano, Pienza and the vineyards of Montalcino. If you have a taste for Tuscany but just a short time in Italy, this tour is for you! A comfortable air-conditioned car or minivan will collect you in Rome and by mid-morning, you will be in the ancient Etruscan town of Montepulciano. The next stop is at the vineyards of Montalcino. This is where one of Italy’s best wines, Brunello di Montalcino, is produced. Absorb views over some of Tuscany’s most beautiful vineyards before heading to Sant’Antimo Abbey where, with a bit of luck, you’ll be just in time to hear the monks perform Gregorian chants. Your private driver will take you out of town to a beautiful Tuscan vineyard. At lunch, enjoy a wine tasting accompanied by bruschetta and three more types of wine along with a spread of cold cuts and local specialties over a three-course lunch. Next stop – Pienza. You will hear how this World Heritage site was conceived by Pope Pius II as a “utopian village” and get information on sites you may want to visit, such as the two Renaissance palaces and the beautiful Duomo. Pienza is a small town so you'll go off on your own and take some time to wander around, enjoying ancient architecture and views of the rolling countryside. Whatever you choose to do with your time, be sure to sample Pienza’s most important product, pecorino cheese, in one of the many artisan food stores around the town. With full bags packed with wine and cheese, meet back at the car for a comfortable and scenic drive back to Rome.

Rome by Night: Private Driving Tour with Dinner

3. Rome by Night: Private Driving Tour with Dinner

Rome is undoubtedly one of the world’s most beautiful cities, and there’s no experience quite like taking in her beauty at night when only 10% of the usual crowds are present. This is a great opportunity to visit the city's most popular attractions while being beautifully illuminated at night. In the cool and quiet of the evening you’ll discover that the city’s buildings and streets take on an entirely different elegance after dark. You will be picked up from your accommodation by an English-speaking chauffeur who will drive you up to the top of Gianicolo hill where you’ll witness a stunning panorama of the Eternal city. From there you'll drive through the enchanting, historical neighborhood of Trastevere and the city center. There, you will explore Rome’s treasures and hear the stories from such famous sites as the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Your private chauffeur/guide will drive you and walk (where needed) through the city's most important attractions and inform you on the essential facts and scoops that will make your visit unforgettable. After the tour, you will experience an authentic Roman dinner in one of our favorite restaurants with a tasting of two different premium wines.

I wasn't too exited about this activity to begin with. But then it turned out to be the best! Best Italian cuisine during the tasting !( quite small portions unfortunately but still the best) and the wine ... exceptional! The scenery of the rolling hills, small towns will make you wanna move there and enjoy it every day Highly recommended this activity to everyone who wants a "taster " of Tuscany.

Our tour guide Andreas was very entertaining with providing the history of Rome as well as Tuscany! His English is very fluent and I wouldn’t have know at first he was an Italian native! Shout out to the driver Antonio for transporting us safely through this 13+ hour day.
