  • Enjoy breathtaking views of the Marrakai Plains
  • Walk the eucalyptus and monsoon forest of the Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve
Full description

Experience leaping saltwater crocodiles up close on a half-day cruise along the Adelaide River, departing from Darwin. Once on the river, your local guide will entice the prehistoric creatures to leap out of the water for an alarming but thrilling display of their mighty jaws.

Continue to the Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre, the highest point on the lower Adelaide River floodplain. From the top of the center, enjoy superb panoramic views across the scenic Marrakai Plains.

Next, visit the Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve to discover its diverse habitat and wildlife, including eucalyptus forest, open scrubland, and melaleuca woodland.

The floodplain and open water attract a significant number of birds, as well as reptiles, mammals, and marsupials that add to your wildlife adventure. Stroll the boardwalks to keep your feet dry as your wander through monsoon and paperback forests.

We were picked up at our accommodation in a modern coach. Good trip out on the highway then turned onto a dirt track toward the river. Jumped on a boat with an excellent informative patient guide Wokky who told us all about the crocs along with bad jokes and puns. Back to the coach and delivered home. Good afternoon out.

Wonderful experience. Truly is a once in a lifetime sort of thing . Knowledgeable guides. Gave 4 stars only because it was really tricky to work out where our pick up point was and they squeezed us into the boat like sardines. Otherwise it was amazing.

I contacted AAPT on tour day, about when and where our pick up was to be, as I didn't have access to my emails, and was given conflicting information. Luckily we did get collected at the bus stop outside our park, but on the other side of the road. Our tour was obviously running late, as we were collected by a mini bus and transferred to a big bus we meet on the highway. The bus driver was very knowledgeable which was great. We really enjoyed seeing the jumping crocs, but didn't go very far up the river, then we were returned to the jetty. We were then taken to Fog dam, and our driver gave us lots of info which we enjoyed. Sadly we never got to visit the Wetlands visitor centre, but overall we really enjoyed the tour. Unfortunately our tour was not half day (or 6 hour) as advertised, as we were only collected at 1.50pm and were returned about 6.15pm
