Instead of a superficial run-through to all the big landmarks, and an endless stream of "this was built by x, in the year y", this tour instead gives you the depth, history and theory to really understand and appreciate the baroque buildings and art of Dresden. You can definitely tell that the guide, Thomas, is an art historian as art is a big focus of this tour - but don't worry if that's usually not your thing! He explains everything well and in a funny way. The tour ended up taking almost 3 hours (instead of 2, as the website says), but no one complained.

This was an enjoyably and insightful review of Dresdens unique interpretation of Baroque art and architecture revealing unique details and stories by our delightful host Thomas. Following that we were shown more unique details of particular decorating techniques employed at the Dresden Residenzschloss and the philosophy behind the rebuilding of the the Frauenkirche and other buildings. Brilliant!

The tour is amazing! The guide is very passionate about history and art and gives a lot of explanations about those during the tour. It was an indescribable experience. We also brought our dog and all the places were pet friendly. I would never see statues and pieces of art in the same way as before this tour. It was a masterclass.
