On this 2-hour walking tour your guide will trace the real events that inspired Diana Gabaldon’s acclaimed novels. The story captures the spirit of the Jacobite rebellion in Edinburgh: The Redcoats, the Highlanders and the smell of gunpowder in the air. Your expert guide will take you deep into the Old Town, to the places where history was made: Tolbooth Jail, Canongate Kirkyard and the World’s End Tavern. If Edinburgh is the setting for the second Outlander novel, you’ll be going behind the scenes!

Our guide was very history knowledgeable about the area as well as the Outlander series. The tour did not end at the same place the tour started so we had scheduled another tour close to the beginning start place and did not have enough time to eat lunch between the two walking tours as we had to book it to the starting point of the second tour. A mile all uphill with an 88 year old. It was a bit challenging. If this had been known when we booked the tour, we could have adjusted the timing of one of the tours to give us more time.

Did the Outlander Walking Tour with Fred and she was just wonderful. Even for non-Outlander fans, the tour was very informative, as Fred had many historical background information. Of course, the filming locations were not too short. We saw everything we wanted. Even the occasional rain could not take the fun. Would definitely make this tour again and also recommend it to friends. Thanks to Fred for this great morning.

A must for all Outlander fans

Dear Fred from the FF knew how to show us the Outlander filming locations in the Old Town and how to mix it with the history of Edinburgh without it getting too much. Fred never tired of spicing up her stories with photos from the Outlander series and passages from Diana Gabaldon's books. I was already in Edinburgh for the 5 × and thought I would already know all the locations. Not even close! I can only warmly recommend this tour. And will do the same with my Outlander Lassies.
