Full description

Escape the bustle of Edinburgh and take a full-day sightseeing tour of Scotland’s magnificent Highlands. Traveling in a small group in a 16-seat Mercedes minibus, get a more intimate experience as you visit Loch Ness, Glencoe Valley, and Rannoch Moor. Drive past Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, and continue to Stirling Castle, and the National Wallace Monument, commemorating Scotland's hero William Wallace. Stop for a coffee at Callander, before crossing the Highland boundary fault line. Learn about the Highland clans, such as the MacGregors, and the famous folk hero, Rob Roy MacGregor. Continue north through Breadalbane, and ascend Rannoch Moor’s heather and peat bogs, dotted with dozens of lochs. Pass the majestic peak of Buachaille Etive Mor, and descend into Glencoe Valley. Drive under Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis, before arriving at Fort Augustus on the southern shore of Loch Ness. Take a boat trip and look out for the Loch Ness Monster or simply enjoy the scenery on this 2-hour stop, with time for lunch. Pass the mountains of the Cairngorms National Park, then Loch Laggan, and finally the Drumochter Pass. See the 13th-century Blair Castle before heading through the forests of Perthshire to Perth, the medieval capital of Scotland. Cross the famous Forth Bridge on your way back to Edinburgh.

Declan was great, we saw some amazing sights and his insight was fantastic throughout. Guiding for a tour this length is no-easy task but at every point our guide managed to weave in relevant and interesting commentary. Lots of cafe stops along the way, so good for those who need to stretch their legs or grab a quick coffee, less ideal for those who just wanna zoom back to Edinburgh as quick as possible after the tours main sights. The itinerary is clear and I’m sure I’m in the minority here who’d prefer to get home a bit quicker so bare that in mind, it’s impressive on a 12 hour tour this is my only hang-up. Regardless, tours fantastic, staff are phenomenal, Nessie remains elusive.

It was a great trip, I recommend it to everyone. The nature of Scotland is truly unbelievable, you should see it by your eyes, it feels like you are on the different planet haha. Huge thanks to Rabbie’s Tours, everything went well and the bus was nice and comfy. Special thanks to our driver Ian, he’s a great storyteller and a nice person, he gave me a powerbank when my phone was low battery. Alex from Latvia.
