Olympia: Self-Guided Virtual Reality Tour of Olympia

1. Olympia: Self-Guided Virtual Reality Tour of Olympia

Meet your host at the local partner's office in Olympia, who will then explain how the virtual reality (VR) glasses work. After the short introduction, begin your virtual tour at the Archeological Site and step back in time to experience ancient Olympia. Listen to interesting facts about each monument and see many monuments come to life again.  You’ll first visit the Ancient Gymnasium, where athletes used to train for the Olympic Games before making your way to Palestra, the training place of boxers and wrestlers. Next, you’ll stop at the Phidias Workshop, where Phidias created one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Heading east, you will see the Temple of Zeus and virtually enter the monument to see the magnificent Statue of Zeus. Then, find yourself in the Ancient Stadium. Through your VR glasses, you will get to experience an ancient sporting event. See athletes competing for the Olympics and admire them from the finishing line. Then head over to the ruins of the Nymphaeum of Herodes of Atticus. With the help of your VR glasses, you’ll be able to see the ruins of the Nymphaeum in its full grandeur and see it come to life again. Last, see the lighting of the Olympic Flame in ancient times and discover that some traditions have remained the same until today.

What people are saying about Elis

Living the archaeological site of Olympia with this experience was truly amazing! Absolutely worth the cost of the service, insured! We found ourselves in Olympia with 42 degrees under the scorching midday sun, but thanks to the experience we were impressed and happily satisfied, it organizes the route for you, which otherwise is not signposted. The guys were very kind, they gave us a very good assistance even from afar for a problem with the viewer. The info provided are really pleasant curiosities and I assure you do not get tired of listening to them, on the contrary. We have visited other sites around Greece and every time we thought that being able to experience them with the viewers would be nice. The only flaw the archaeological site does not give you any info, on the contrary it pretends not to know this reality. The agency is located, starting from the car park of the site at the end of the main street on the church street just in front.

A fantastic experience. You feel like you've been transported back in time, the site becomes much more vivid than with a simple tour or just with an audio guide. The virtual representation as well as the 3D effects make the whole thing a real experience.

We really enjoyed this experience. It helped bring to life the Olympic site and made it easier to imagine what had been there and how things were used.

Tremendous. Finally a fun and entertaining way to visit an archaeological site that helps us better understand these constructions and their uses.

Essential accessory! The visit to Olympia would be difficult to understand without the use of these virtual reality glasses. This is essential.
