The tour was fine. Josie was knowledgeable and pleasant. We booked a tour in English but we had two Italians in our group so our guide had to explain everything twice. First in English and then in Italian. It was boring having to wait while she did that, and because we took twice as long, other groups caught us up.

Herculaneum is manageable in around 3 hours at the most and, whilst you can wander around yourself, it pays to have a guide to really bring the scene to life. Definitely recommend this way of experiencing your visit (although a little pricey for 3 or more persons).

Eine sehr engagierte und wissenskundige Guide (Guisy) hat uns auf sehr interessante Art und Weise durch das Herculaneum geführt. Was uns allerdings geärgert hat, war das organisatorische „Drumherum“: wir hatten eine deutsch-sprachige Führung gebucht; die Website hat uns vermittelt, dass bei einer Buchung und Zahlung von 4 Personen wir eine individuelle Führung hätten. Einen Tag vor der Führung bekam ich eine Anfrage, ob wir auch mit einer englischen Führung einverstanden wären. Wir sind der Sprache mächtig, also haben wir zugesagt. Am Treffpunkt dann die Überraschung: ein weiteres Paar nahm an der Führung teil. Auf das „Missverständnis“ und die ungleiche Bezahlung hingewiesen, wurde unsere Reklamation abgewiesen.
