Santorini: Local Drink and Food Walking Tour at Sunset

1. Santorini: Local Drink and Food Walking Tour at Sunset

Leave your flip flops aside, dress smart-casual, and experience a glitzy evening adventure of food and drinks in Santorini. Immerse yourself in the island's culinary culture on this walking tour to its most famed spots with the Santorini Caldera and the brilliant colors of the sunset as your backdrop. Walk through the charming cobblestone pathways perched on the edge of the caldera cliffs as you make your way to your first stop. Here, sip a refreshing local liqueur and sample a mouthwatering local sweet while enjoying superb views over the caldera and the Aegean Sea. Then, eat your way through Firostefani’s footpaths by tasting Santorini’s most ancient fresh seafood dish, admiring uninterrupted views and the blue-domed Virgin Mary Orthodox church — one of the most photographed spots on the island. Continue your walk through hidden back alleys and capture countless photos with the fabled Santorini sunset. Quench your thirst with an "explosive" local craft beer, a Santorini exclusive beer that follows a local-original procedure in the making, accompanied with local seasonal tapas. Later on, stroll around the characteristic Aegean-styled whitewashed streets before awakening your taste buds with a souvlaki, the most famous Greek street food. Visit a food concept store with flavors and products from every corner of Greece and enjoy unparalleled views from an off-the-tourist-radar spot with a glass of volcanic wine and a traditional Santorini seasonal dish. Under the moonlight, head to your last stop, a local bar where you participate in some local drinking traditions, sampling the absolute top three Greek spirits and learning about the local spirit culture in Greece. End your tour in buzzing Fira, Santorini’s capital that offers a vast array of leisure options. From here, continue your own personal exploration - your guide will be more than happy to advise you on your next move.

Santorini: Night Hike, Wine Tasting, and Greek Dinner

2. Santorini: Night Hike, Wine Tasting, and Greek Dinner

After a convenient pickup from your hotel, take a relaxing drive with your guide to the Prophet Elias chapel located on the top of a hill. Admire the spectacularly orange sun sinking below the horizon. When night falls, light your torch and embark on a 2-hour hike towards Fira. Use some parts of the world famous Fira-Oia hiking trail, which during the day can get very crowded. In the evening, you will find that nearly nobody is around so you can enjoy the privilege to experience the scenery without any obstructions. As you hike along the trail, enjoy stops at a variety of viewpoints that let you marvel at the thousands of lights which illuminate Santorini by night, and the still very visible volcano to the right. When you reach Fira, be welcomed at Assyrtico Restaurant for a well-deserved relaxing evening. Start by tasting 4 unique Santorinian wines, including the world famous “Vinsanto”. Learn about the local wine culture and history. After the wine tasting, savor a delicious homemade dinner featuring local recipes. At the end of the meal, take advantage of the convenient transfer back to your hotel.

Santorini: Wine Trails Private Tour with Guide

3. Santorini: Wine Trails Private Tour with Guide

Start your private Santorini tour with a pick-up from your hotel, or from the old port (Skala) where your local guide will be waiting for you at the cruise arrivals pier. The first stop on this wine culture exploration will be an old, private canava, the island’s underground caves used as a space for grape storage and wine making. Hear fascinating stories of locals who have mastered the island’s harsh weather conditions to create exceptional wines using ancient techniques and methods that are still in use today and participate in a 3-glass ‘cave’ wine tasting. Next, through the narrow alleyways of a traditional village you’ll visit a former winery of distinct architecture and history where you’ll participate in a unique wine philosophy session. Experience an interactive musical wine journey and feel the euphoria and mysticism when the wine is paired with music while you taste 3 wine glasses of ancient Greek varieties and enjoy a mythological narration with ancient Greek wind and string instruments. Since this is a wine tour after all, your last stop will have you sampling four more local wines paired with a platter of local, seasonal nibbles such as local meats and cheeses on the winery’s terrace with gorgeous sunset views. Your wine tour of Santorini will sadly finish here, but you will definitely want to come back for more! Your guide will be more than happy to make recommendations for what else you can do, if your plans allow you more time on the island. How you help the local community by joining this tour: By visiting a local winery that follows traditional methods, you promote Santorini’s indigenous varieties of grapes and local ancient pruning techniques. By visiting an underground labyrinth that was the owner’s house cellar during his childhood, you will get a better understanding of local life and traditions in the past. You support local farmers and help preserve Satorini’s culinary traditions by sampling food locally sourced from Santorini and nearby islands.

This tour is a must-do. The walk takes you along the famous caldera, including parts of the Oia-Fira hike. The food, beer, and wine were all amazing and were not “tasting” portions by any means. They were all full portions. Yet, the best part about the tour was our guide, Kristos. He was so funny, knowledgeable, and kind. You know you’re in good hands when two minutes into the tour you run into people that took the tour the previous day and they hugged the guide and told us all we would love the tour and him. And we definitely did.

Our favorite outing!!

We had a blast with the two funnest outgoing people!! We walked l, talked, watched the sunset, took pictures!! Our 20 year olds loved it and so did our 50 year olds!! Finished with great food and wine!!

It is not a difficult walk. It's mostly going in level areas or downhill, so no worries about needing to be fit. Very picturesque. We tried 4 wines with several food platters. Great time!

Leisurely walk back to Thera very enjoyable guides excellent. Traditional food and samples is 4 wines with descriptions of wine and history of wine making.

Tour guide Eva was lovely, very informative and kind. The dinner at the end was excellent, I enjoyed it all so much!
