Full description
Learn how to make pizza and gelato just like the Italians! In this late afternoon class, your chef will introduce you to the history of these most delicious of Italian creations. With a professional pizza chef, you will bake a pizza called pizzaiolo. Learn how to make tender, flexible yeast dough that stretches to almost paper-thinness, as well as the trick for a flavorful yet light tomato sauce. Even if you bake pizza in your own oven, these techniques are universal and using them really makes a difference. Make your very own pizza - stretch it, sauce it, bake it, slice it. This will be the best pizza you ever tasted, and you made it yourself! After pizza, it’s time for gelato. Your chef will explain why gelato remains Italy's favorite dessert while giving an insight into the gelato culture that continues to grow. Learn about the raw ingredients used for bases and about principles for selecting the best products available. Then, enjoy a presentation and tasting of many of the flavors used in gelato making. You will learn about the development and application of natural colors, heating and freezing techniques and their effects on different ingredients. Discover the secrets of the world's most-loved dessert! This activity is strongly recommended for families that wish to teach their children about Italian culture. This easy and fun experience will last forever in your child's memory.

Catarina was a great instructor to make pizza. The crust requires a lot of kneading and it’s a lot more work than I anticipated. In a normal situation the rising takes hours; we had a short amount of time. I didn’t particularly like the flavor of the crust and it could’ve been because it didn’t have sufficient time to rise. I put too much sauce on mine so use very little. We learned a lot about the “real” authentic gelato and how To identify it from the gelato ice cream stands. The Chocolate gelato was excellent!!!!

This was so far the best in this trip. Chef Florence explained the history of pizza and gelato first. Then he prepared 100g of flour on each of our area on the table and showed us the next steps from mixing the ingredients to proper kneading and rising the dough. While waiting, we started with the gelato making process. It was a simultaneous activity . After placing the gelato in the machine, our dough was pulled and ready for topping and baking . By the time pizza was all done , we ate and had red wine with it and had our very own made chocolate gelato for dessert .

This was a super fun activity in Florence. The host Katarina and David were fun and welcoming! It’s great for families and solo travelers like myself. The gelato is really just a time filler but interesting to learn. Making the pizza was delicious and a great way to learn about cooking. Def recommend!
