Full description
Start at the Accademia, set up by the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Pietro Leopoldo, who converted St. Matthew's Friary and San Niccolò di Cafaggio Convent into an art gallery so that students could study great masterpieces of the past. Explore its fascinating collection of grand masterpieces with an expert guide. See Michelangelo's legendary David, and admire the Medici collections of the Gothic and Renaissance periods. After your guided tour, you are free to spend some time in the museum on your own. Set off for lunch at one of the fantastic local restaurants in the neighborhood (if option selected), and rejoin your guide in the afternoon to visit the Uffizi Gallery. The most famous museum in Florence, the Uffizi Gallery, is located on the top floor of an impressive 16th-century building erected by Giorgio Vasari. Skip the long lines to enter the gallery and follow your guide, who will show you some of the world's most renowned works of art by Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raffaello, and many others. Discover highlights, such as Botticelli's famous masterpieces "Primavera," and the "Birth of Venus.” Once your guided tour has ended, feel free to explore the museum on your own – you're free to roam the corridors until closing time!

The tours in Accademia and the Uffizi were good, but there were two odd things about this tour: first, the tour of Accademia started around 10:30 a.m. and ended around 12:30 p.m., and the Uffizi tour began around 4:30 p.m. (this ended up working really well for me, but just be aware there's a significant break in between the two tours); and second, the tour was conducted in English and Spanish, which I did not mind, because we got time to look around the galleries after the English portion; I am not sure if that's the case all the time, but be aware that it could happen. Overall, a good value, I think.

We loved the tours - Alex explained everything very well and we really hit all the high points of the Uffizi in 90 minutes. Getting into the Accademia was not well organized; we had to stand out in the rain because the guide was late. There is also a long gap between the two sections and by the time the tour finished we only had half an hour left in the Uffizi.

We signed up for 4 different tours via Get Your Guide for our trip to Italy. Of the 4, this was the best. Our guide was excellent. Deep understanding of the art as well as history and gave is great insights into what we were seeing. Well worth the $ to take best advantage of our limited time in Florence.
