Genoa: Guided Whale Watching Excursion
- Duration: 4.5 hours
The exhibition gallery at the Aquarium of Genoa consists of over 70 exhibits and about 12,000 specimen of 600 species, from all the seas of the world. From the rarest species such as manatees – marine mammals that may be at the origin of the legend of mermaids – to the most famous ones such as dolphins, penguins, and sharks – the great predators of the sea; but also jellyfish, seals, and multi-coloured tropical fish species. For the whale-whatching excursion, sail via the sea mammals’ routes in the Pelagos Sanctuary. The boat excursion departs from Genoa, from the pier next to the Aquarium, and lasts 4 hours as you try to see the sea mammals in their natural habitat. Guiding the public through this unique experience will be a marine biologist who, during the excursion, unveils to the participants all the secrets of how to spot the animals, and illustrating the correct behavioural condu...
Genoa, the largest medieval town in Europe, maintains the charm of the ancient maritime republic. Your day will start in the ancient harbor, renovated in 1992 by the architect Renzo Piano. Here, your friendly and professional guide will lead you through the labyrinth of narrow alleyways of the old town to discover the many attractions of this city on an inspiring walking tour. After free time for lunch, hop-on your air-conditioned coach for a scenic ride following the Tigullio Gulf, nicknamed the Dolphins Gulf due to the large school of dolphins that are often spotted there, to reach the colorful village of Santa Margherita Ligure. Here, take the boat for a mini-cruise to the charming fishing village of Portofino, a half-moon shaped seaside village whose beauty has been narrated across the millennia by writers and poets such as Guy de Maupassant. The journey will end with a return by b...
Amazing guide, would have been nice to have more time to explore in Portafino, that’s why it’s only 4/5 from us. Would highly recommend this to anyone who wanna see Genova.

The aquarium even if already seen years ago, more and more spectacular. Paying a small extra ticket we also did the guided tour "behind the scenes" with a biologist, we saw the tanks with the eggs and the newborn rays, the small turtles, the aquarium kitchens and finally we saw the dolphins from the board tub. The dolphin watching excursion, although the wind made it more difficult by rippling the sea, we did four sightings of groups of striped dolphins playing with the waves of the boat. For a few moments it was also possible to see the back of a zifio. All organized to perfection beautiful experience and day.
Great experience! The aquarium needless to say how exceptional it is. The Whale Watching team was very friendly and professional, they were able to give us a lot of directions and information. We have seen dolphins, a turtle and the back of a whale typical of the area. Experience highly recommended.
You have to exchange the voucher for a ticket at the counter, for which you should plan some time. We saw the first whale relatively close to the coast and dolphins right in the harbor. It is also in English but most of what was said was only said in Italian.
All perfect. Scheduled day with exact times. Very well-trained and professional staff.
Spotted on 28/06/2021 3 turtles, 1 blue whale, 4 zifi and dolphins inside the port
