Ghent: Guided City Food Tour with Food and Drink Tastings

8. Ghent: Guided City Food Tour with Food and Drink Tastings

Compared to Brussels, Bruges and Antwerp, Ghent is still a bit of a hidden gem, but therefore not less cool. On the contrary. Ghent is probably one of the most exciting cities in Belgium with its entrepreneurial spirit, liberal mindset, rebellious heart and old soul, that is reflected in the history of the city. This tour is a combination of sightseeing and food tasting. You will walk through famous and significant squares, and see some of the most important landmarks. These include, but are not limited to Vrijdagmarkt & Artevelde Statue, Korenmarkt, the old harbour at Graslei, Korenlei, the Unesco protected Ghent Belfry (Belfort), the St Bavo Cathedral (Sint- Baafskathedraal), which is the home of the famous Ghent Altarpiece, the medieval St Nicolas church, Graffiti Street and so on. During your walk, you make 5 food (and/or drink) tasting stops. The tasters are small (not full meals or drinks) and give you the chance to try something different. Some of these are typical Belgian (eg chocolate, waffles), whilst others are popular with the locals (eg plant based food). Each of our taster stops is consciously chosen and your guide will share the story behind it. We work together with local, independent vendors rather than large commercial ones. Your tour finishes at the last stop, which is in the centre or walking distance from the historical heart of Ghent. Your guide will make that sure you are looked after, and when you have been served your last taster, they will leave you be so you can enjoy the tasting at your own pace and have a rest after the walking.
