Gibraltar Cable Car & Dolphin Watch

1. Gibraltar Cable Car & Dolphin Watch

On this 4-hour Gibraltar package, begin on a dolphin cruise onboard a yellow catamaran. You will have a personal multi-media guide as well, included in your ticket price. Expert guides provide live commentary and a marine biologist describes everything that you’ll encounter. Learn about dolphins and we can protect these special creatures. They are sighted on 99 percent of the tours. At times, you can see pods of 40 to 500 dolphins. Watch common, striped, and bottlenose dolphins swim up to the boat and play. They sometimes put on a spectacular display of leaps directly at your feet. Tours depart 4 times each afternoon from Marina Bay, where you can relax and soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere both before and after your trip. Each tour takes in breathtaking views of both the African and European coastline and the legendary Pillars of Hercules. One of Gibraltar's highlights is riding to the top of the Rock by cable car, the best location to spot the famous Barbary apes. A pack of wild apes, the famous Barbary macaques, will give you an entertaining acrobatics performance. Hide all plastic bags to avoid robbery and keep a friendly distance, especially if the young ones are around. Relax with a beverage and light snack while enjoying the spectacular vistas. The Top of the Rock Souvenir Shop is also packed with unique gifts unavailable in town. From the terraces of the top station, gaze over the town below, look north towards the Sierra Nevada over the Costa del Sol and east over the blue Mediterranean Sea, and take in the views south across the Strait of Gibraltar to the Rif Mountains of North Africa. You’ll have views of 2 continents, 3 countries, and the meeting point of 2 great bodies of water! You'll be able to appreciate why so many wished to conquer this small isthmus and why it played such an important part in world history.

From Cádiz: Private Day Trip to Gibraltar & Vejer Tour

2. From Cádiz: Private Day Trip to Gibraltar & Vejer Tour

Benefit from a pick-up from your hotel and then journey by air-conditioned minivan to the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar, home to the only wild macaques (Barbary apes) in Europe. Although free to move throughout the city, they're usually found in the limestone rocks of the Peñón de Gibraltar (Rock of Gibraltar), and according to superstition, if the monkeys ever leave the rock then so will the British. An important city during Roman times, Gibraltar has preserved its old town charm, and blends scenic splendor with a modern vibe. While the 426 meter high Rock of Gibraltar looking across the straits to Africa is the main sight, other attractions include the Gibraltar Museum, where the territory's swashbuckling history is brought to life. Take a stroll along Main Street to see the Cathedral of Saint Mary the crowned and the official residence of the Governor of Gibraltar at the Convent. The town of Vejer was declared a historical site and awarded the National Prize for the beautification of Andalusian towns. Its Moorish heritage is evident in the popular architecture and design of its neighborhoods like the Judería. It is perched on top of a beautiful hill overlooking the river Barbate. The town takes pride in its historic legacy from past civilizations such as the Phoenicians, Carthaginians and Romans. In 711 the Battle of La Janda was fought near the town. After this battle, the Visigoths lost control of the peninsula to the Moors. The town of Vejer has always been walled and some of its towers are still well preserved (the Mayorazgo Tower, the San Juan Tower and the Corredera Tower), and its four medieval town gates are perfectly integrated in the town, namely the Segur Arch Gate, the Puerta de la Villa, the Sancho IV and the Puerta Cerrada. The castle (11th to 16th-centuries) stands at the highest part of the old town and can be reached through a beautiful horseshoe arch. It combines elements of both Muslim and Christian architecture. The town also boasts some magnificent examples of religious architecture.

We truly enjoyed this experience and chose to walk back down the hill from the top of the rock. My fiancé was swimming with dolphins before but for me it was my first experience seeing them in the open water.

The staff were very pleasant and the trip was incredible. I lost count of the number of dolphins we saw, but well in excess of 100.

Amazing experience, we had the chance to see the dolphins as promised and to enjoy them in their natural surroundings

It was very nice, we have seen many dolphins and they told us some interesting info

Loved it! Such an amazing experience and it was very well organized.
