Discover the 2 most representative cities of northern Catalonia, Girona and Figueres, on a full-day tour from Barcelona. Explore Girona's medieval monuments on a guided walking tour, and plunge into Salvador Dalí's surreal world at the Dalí Theater-Museum in Figueres. Meet your guide and set off from Barcelona to head first to Girona, a city founded by the Romans. Learn about Girona's history with your guide, and admire a city used as a filming location for Game of Thrones. See some of the finest historic architecture in Spain, including medieval walls, Romanesque and Gothic monuments, Arab baths, baroque spaces, and one of the best-preserved Jewish quarters in Europe. Next, make your way to Figueres, the world capital of surrealism. Take advantage of priority entrance to the Dalí Theatre-Museum, which contains the largest collection of the artist's works and is a surrealist work of art in its own right. Step into a different universe when you enter the museum, and immerse yourself in Dalí's unique world on an orientation tour. Take some time to explore the permanent Dalí Jewels exhibition, then conclude your tour with a return journey to Barcelona and the original meeting point.

From Barcelona: Girona Game of Thrones and Montserrat Tour

Discover the Old Town of Girona and learn about some of the myths and legends related to the city. See some of the locations where the HBO hit series Game of Thrones filmed many scenes of its sixth season. Admire the exterior of the magnificent Cathedral and walk along a part of the medieval city walls. Originally built in the 14th century, the old walls were destroyed to expand the city in the 19th century. Take advantage of the free time after the guided tour and visit the interior of the Cathedral on your own, or grab a quick bite to eat. The second part of the tour takes you to the mountain of Montserrat which rises majestically to 4,051 feet (1,236 meters). You have the opportunity to take in breathtaking views of the Montserrat Mountain, one of nature’s unique creations. Take a ride up Montserrat on the cogwheel train, which drops you off at the Monastery. During the 15-minute ride you’ll have spectacular views of the mountain from the panoramic windows of the train. Visit the Royal Basilica of Montserrat that houses the 12th-century romanesque carving of the Verge Moreneta (the Black Madonna). You’ll have some free time to take in the audiovisual exhibition about the history and creation of Montserrat and to taste typical liqueurs of Montserrat, made by local monks. Both of these activities are included in the tour price.

What people are saying about Girona

I booked on the morning of July 13th and luckily found the place for the next day for me, my husband and two children aged 12 and 16. We had a great time, great organization and efficiency of Get your Guide (I also called customer service for a small problem and the guy was helpful and professional) and of the Tour operator Catalunya, where Get your Guide relied on Barcelona . The bus took us from Barcelona (departure at 8.30am) to Girona and then later to Figueres, to visit the Salvador Dali Theater-Museum. Very good tour guides who spoke fluently in Spanish and English: Cristina for the visit to Girona (truly a super professional and competent guide) and Alex both for the bus and for the Dalì Museum (a very prepared, quick and very kind guy) . A wonderful experience for all of us, to which I give an excellent judgment for efficiency, professionalism and availability.

Both guides in Girona as well as Figueres were very knowledgeable, interesting and very good communicators. The instructions were always crisis & clear. They ensured that every one knew their way back to the bus unambiguously & shared personal ohone number if anyone needed help. The head phones provided had good range & excellent voice clarity. My family thoroughly enjoyed the trip & learnt lots of interesting history from these two guides. Kamal Sodhi, India

girona is a small but an amazing town. ıt was very good to walk along side the town. In addition, I strongly recommend the Salvador Dali's museum. It was a fantastic tour and our guide ALEX was amazing. He almost told us every detail of the museum and he has a strong information on the museum and Salvador Dali. We discussed the Dali's illustrations with the participants and our guide Alex. He made the tour very enjoyable. You have to see this museum guys!

It was an excellent experience for us. In Girona the group was split into two guides in English and Spanish. In the Dali museum, a single guide translated sequentially into two languages. Our two guides Christina and Carlos were very helpful and informative. Thank you for this beautiful tour.

The very good guide, the best of the experience. Attentive to everything, with a lot of knowledge and excellent attitude
