This pristine beach is located 28 km (17 miles) from Mapusa and is one of the steepest slope beaches in Goa. Although the waters are clear and alluring, we advise getting the opinion of the local folks as well as the lifeguards before jumping in for a swim. Our next stop will be Ashwem Beach, situated south to the Arambol beach. This is another isolated beach in Goa with vast stretches of sand on the horizon as you make your way to beach shacks and huts midway along the beach. There are a number of restaurants in the area that serve sumptuous seafood. Finally, we will head to Anjuna beach. This classic north Goa market has been around since the mid 1970’s and seems to be growing continuously, it now covers most of the area behind the south side of Anjuna beach. Every Wednesday at 11:00, a massive flea market opens for business. What started as hippies selling off their possessions to afford a ticket back home has now turned in to a commercial spectacle on a grand scale. These days, there are not many foreign sellers, and even fewer hippie ones. Nowdays most sellers are professional market vendors from Rajasthan and other places in north India, Tibet, Nepal and other places, offering everything you would normally find at the local beach markets, and much, much more.
