The whole setting changes, not just the background. Reviving a tradition dating back to the late 1800s, this reimagining is brought to life by some of the finest lyrical voices, accompanied by a talented small group of strings and a piano: a virtuoso ensemble who performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world. Planning Your Visit

  • Getting around by bus and taxi

The "vaporetti" (water buses) cost €8.50 per ticket from the train station to Piazza San Marco and run every 10 minutes. The trip on Line 2 takes 20 - 30 minutes, and 45 minutes on Line 1. The "taxi acquei" (water taxi) costs €110 from the airport to a hotel, and, depending on the distance, between €40 - €70 within Venice itself.

  • Getting around by gondola

A typical ride lasts 40 minutes and costs about €80. Add another €40 per 20-minute increment thereafter. The price goes up after 7:00 pm to €100 and costs €50 for every 20 minutes thereafter. In the end, it is always wise to agree on the price with the gondelier before setting off.

  • Getting around by traghetto

This "water ferry" is a cheap alternative to traveling by gondola and costs €4 for a five-minute ride across the Grand Canal. The difference between a traghetto and gondola is that two people are rowing, and passengers generally stand for the short trip.

Good to know

  • When should I visit?
Depends on when your chosen gondolier wakes up! From 9AM onward is a good bet.
  • Is it expensive?
Choose your fancy! You can compare gondola-ride and water taxi prices on our website.
  • Will I need a guide?
Most definitely, unless you row your own boat. And would you really want to miss an Italian serenade?
  • How to get there
By foot from the train station or Piazza San Marco.
  • Additional information
Though the locals stand in a traghetto, find yourself a seat. The bobbing of the boat might bop you into the Canal!

This was an excellent excursion. My guide Giorgia was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and showed us many areas I may not have found by myself and gave great information about the areas and the history of them. Giorgia made the experience better than I had expected. I travel a lot and Giorgia was one of the most friendly, happy, and informative guides I’ve met. She had an excellent local knowledge of Venice and gave great recommendations of things to see and do and places to dine and shop and how to get around thr city using local transport. She made the experience a lot of fun. She had excellent language and communication skills. It was a great way to get to know Venice and best ways of getting around the beautiful city. I would highly recommend this activity. It’s a great way of finding your way around the famous sites and the off the beaten track areas that you may not know about. It was also excellent value for money. A very relaxing and enjoyable experience.

One of the best things I did in Venice. I heard so many times not to take the gondolas, that they are overpriced. Since I’m traveling solo the romantic appeal was worth the money. But every time I saw one go by it just said “Venice” to me. I’m so glad I signed up for the touristy experience. Being in the gondola and floating through the back ways was amazing, and totally unlike walking the streets. And then the excitement of the Grand Canal was magnificent. The guide made the whole experience even better.

This was such a great experience. It was a bit difficult to find the meeting location, however the company was very helpful in getting us connected with the tour guide. Once all of that was settled, the Gondola ride and the glass blowing was great. It was nice not to have to take a boat to Murano, since we were short on time and we were able to have the full experience right in Venice at the Murano Museum and Shop. Great value for the tour.

Excellent experience thanks to the girl who told us everything about the gondolas and, naturally, incredible experience with the gondolier: a super polite person who show us history of Venice. Recommended!!!

Nice gondola ride lasted about half an hour, nice the gondolier. To try
