From Hanoi, you will head to Nghia Lo town – the home of Thai people, one of the main ethnic groups in Yen Bai. Arrive in Tu Le town, walk around the rice fields and explore the lifestyles of the Thai and Mong people. Go on a trek then spend a night in a homestay. After breakfast the next day, you will move to Mu Cang Chai. Drive over the Khau Pha pass (one of the four greatest passes in Northern Vietnam, connecting Tu Le and Mu Cang Chai). These scenic roads offer a lot of stops for picture-taking. When you arrive in Mu Cang Chai spend around 3 hours trekking from La Pan Tan to Rasberry Hill – one of the most famous destinations in the country. Eat a simple lunch at a Hmong house in Mu Cang Chai. After lunch, you will continue to enjoy some trekking from Che Cu Nha to Kim Noi village. Stay overnight in a stilt house. The next day you will trek up to Sang Nhu or Lao Chai village, where there are beautiful rice terraces. Enjoy trekking through the pine forests and along the hidden paths as you take in the views of Mu Cang Chai.

After being picked up in Hanoi you will head to Ha Giang city. You arrive in Thon Tha village, a peaceful village in which the Tay ethnic people live in stilt houses. Trek around the village and experience the warmth of local hospitality. On the second day, after breakfast, you will drive to the Quan Ba heaven gate. Start trekking from here to the Nam Dam village, inhabited by Dao ethnic people. The locals still maintain their traditional customs, habits, and culture from ancient times. Enjoy beautiful hiking and see the local traditional houses made of compacted soil which protect people from the extreme weather in the high mountains. On the third day, trek through the remote and beautiful countryside of Dong Van to Ta Lung, where you will climb through to the Rock Mountains and pass through several villages along hidden tracks used by the local people. You will meet the H’mong and Hoa people, who are the local ethnic minorities in the area. On day four, you have the chance to enjoy the unique and special local Market in Meo Vac, held on Sundays. Finally, on day five after breakfast, you will enjoy a hike before returning to Hanoi.

On the first day of your tour, your English-speaking guide will pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi at 7:00 AM and take you to Hoang Su Phi where you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Continue on to Suoi Thau arriving around 3:30-4:00 PM. You will start exploring the area by taking a 1-hour trek to a Suoi Thau community-based tourism village to enjoy the poetic beauty of the natural landscapes and breathe in the fresh air. You will continue onto your homestay and on the way, you will learn about the Red Dao people. After arriving at your homestay you can participate in a fishing experience to catch fish for your dinner. If you are interested, you can prepare your dinner with your homestay host. After a tasty local dinner, you will settle in for the night.  After breakfast on your second day, you will trek around for a little while before being picked up by a car. You will drive for about an hour towards the heaven gate Nam Ai to start trekking through the forest. As you explore the forest you will enjoy views of the valley and paddy fields. After trekking for around 1.5 hours you will eat lunch in Nam Khoa then continue on for another 2.5 hours to reach your homestay in Nam Hong village. When you arrive at your homestay you can enjoy a traditional herbal bath and relax after a long day of traveling.  On the third day, wake up around 7:00 AM to experience local life. Learn about the tea cultivation and tea picking techniques, then help carry tea leaf baskets back to the village around 8:00 AM. Once back in the village, you can rest and have breakfast before participating in the tea farming process for another hour. You will get to test the green tea you made. After having tea you will start your trek for the day. You will treck past a waterfall and through the forest and mountains before arriving at Pan Hou Ecolodge where you will relax surrounded by the nature of Pan Hou. When you wake up on the fourth day, spend a couple of hours exploring the life of the Tay people in Pan Hou. If you are traveling on the weekend you will have the change to explore the colorful local market. A car will pick you up in Pan Hou and take you back to Hanoi. On the way, you will stop at a local restaurant for lunch and arrive back in Hanoi around 5:30 PM.

Start with a pick-up from your hotel at 08:00. The Jeep will drive you to the rural areas of Hanoi. After 1.5-hours, you will arrive to Duong Lam. This is an ancient village with houses built of unprocessed laterite blocks. Have a walk to visit the ancient Mong Phu Communal House and Mia Pagoda (known as the museum of Buddha statues with 287 relics on display). Leaving the village, you will drive for 5 more kilometers on the village road to Moon Garden, where you will have lunch at a special restaurant. Duc was an excellent tour guide with a breadth of knowledge on the history of vietnam and Hanoi. We saw some spots which we would never have found on traditional tours such as the ‘Eiffel tower’ and enjoyed dinner at the hidden gem restaurant.

We had a great guide (Tam). The food was delicious. We discovered great places that we would never have found without Tam. It was a great tour!
