Cesky Krumlov Private Day Trip from Prague

1. Cesky Krumlov Private Day Trip from Prague

One of Bohemia's prettiest towns, Cesky Krumlov is a living gallery of elegant Renaissance-era buildings housing charming cafes, pubs, restaurants, shops, and galleries. In 1992, it was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With the convenience of a licensed professional tour guide, get acquainted with Cesky Krumlov. The town has been bustling since medieval times, and the historical center is exquisitely preserved. Then, march off to Krumlov Castle for a taste of the Renaissance. Krumlov Castle is the second biggest in Bohemia, after Prague Castle. This jewel attracts visitors from all over the world. (The castle is closed from 31st October - 21st March; we can visit the town of Ceske Budejovice along the way instead). Later, dine at one of the local pubs or restaurants for lunch, where you can enjoy the local beer, Eggenberg. You can explore at your own pace, saving time for souvenir shopping if you wish. If you are finished early, you also have the option of adding the nearby town of Ceske Budejovice or the Hluboka Castle to your tour.

2. From Prague: Day Trip to Český Krumlov & Hluboká with Lunch

Explore the beautiful landscape of South Bohemia on this day trip to Český Krumlov, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the romantic neo-Gothic castle at Hluboká nad Vltavou. Paired with a delicious lunch in a famous local restaurant and Czech beer or local wine, this is a trip you won’t want to miss. From Prague, head with your English-speaking guide to the picturesque neo-Gothic Hluboká Castle, considered to be one of the most impressive in the Czech Republic. Located in a stunning park on top of the hill above the Vltava River and with richly decorated interiors, this is sure to be a amazing start of your trip. Hluboka was once a proud Gothic castle, but in the 19th century it was converted into a pompous family residence of the powerful aristocratic Schwarzenberg family. It is sometimes called the most English of Czech castles. Later we will move to Český Krumlov, a perfectly preserved Renaissance town that has been recognized by UNESCO for its heritage value. This lively cosmopolitan town has a unique atmosphere and is surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and countryside. Dominated by the castle stretching over the Vltava River, Český Krumlov’s narrow cobbled streets are lined with ancient patrician houses. The streets are full of artists, music festivals, coffee shops, and ancient taverns.  After traditional Czech lunch in a charming and renowned local restaurant, you’ll visit the monumental castle, with its Baroque theater, astonishing view from the main tower, and castle moat with bears, who have made their home here since the 17th century. And later you'll have a moment to yourself, an hour or an hour and a half to wander the magical streets of this beautiful Renaissance city. The program is up to you. You can visit the beautiful Egon Schiele Art Centre, the magical Gothic Church of St. Vitus, or just browse the delightful local shops, sit on the banks of the Vltava River and enjoy a cup of coffee... After a full day of sightseeing, return to Prague for approximately 7 or 8 PM.

Robert was our driver and he was fantastic. I learnt so much about the Czech history during our drive. Travelled in a beautiful Mercedes. Robert found out I was interested in beer and suggested stopping at a brewery on the way. During our stop at Cesky Krumlov Robert gave us lots of information about the town and guided us to beautiful parts of the town. He suggested a great restaurant in town. When we arrived back in Prague he also spent an extra few minutes driving around our hotel to show us places to eat. Could not ask for a better experience. Thank you so much for an amazing day that we both won’t forget for a long time!

We can totally recommend this day trip very much! We had a wonderful day visiting the two beautiful castles and cities! Our tour guide Martin has great knowledge about the history and explained everything very good and interesting and we had a great time! The castle Hluboka was the most beautiful castle we have ever been to! And the lunch in a Medieval Restaurant was very good! We will definitely come back!

We had an excellent day with our guide Robert, exploring Cesky Krumlov with an extra stop at Tabor at our request. His knowledge of the history of the area was amazing and that really enhanced our experience. He took us to a wonderful medieval type restaurant. I would want to have him for a guide again. It was a perfect day.

Mr. Yan was terrific. He picked us up at our Hotel right on time. The vehicle used was very spacious and comfortable. We found our guide very knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly. It was a very nice day. The highlight of our time in Prague.
