Challenge yourself to climb the highest peak in North Africa in 2 days. The tour starts and finishes in the vibrant city of Marrakech, and includes transport to and from Imlil. You will trek with a local English-speaking guide, a local cook, and mules to carry your luggage. This is a challenging walk rather than a climb, and anybody in good physical condition can reach the top. Make sure you bring your camera; the views from the summit are spectacular. Mount Toubkal 4167m is the highest peak in North Africa, and is a trekking peak involving no climbing but may involve walking in crampons or holding an ice axe for security (November to April). The itinerary has been designed for keen walkers, as the ascent is non-technical, but does involve some easy scrambling and snow slopes. After the first day spent trekking, you will stay at the refuge where you will spend the night, and enjoy Berber hospitality. After an early breakfast the next day, set off and reach the summit as the sun rises, rewarding you with amazing views. The views from the summit are amazing across the mountains to Marrakech to the north, and the start of the Sahara to the south. During the ascent you will be rewarded with stunning views of the Atlas Mountains, green valleys, and Berber Villages.

Your 2-day adventure begins with pickup from your hotel in Marrakech and heads towards the High Atlas Mountains via Tahnnaout, Oued Ghighaya, and Asni. Discover and explore deep Berber country in the High Atlas Mountains, and enjoy the landscapes of desert, valleys, villages, and open plains on a full-day trip from Marrakech.  The drive takes you first to the Agafay Desert, just south of Marrakech, where you’ll experience some dune bashing before continuing on to the Lalla Takerkoust region, making your first stop on the hills overlooking the lake. From here you’ll begin a 4x4 adventure on dirt tracks rarely frequented by tourists and climb up to the Kik Plateau, where you’ll drive from village to village meeting locals, visiting Berber homes, and sampling their traditional mint tea and homemade bread.  When you arrive at Imlil Village, located in the heart of Toubkal National Park, you’ll have the option of hiking for an hour to Armed village or continue to the village by 4x4. The 1-hour hike with a local guide is of moderate difficulty. In the village you’ll be served a Berber lamb tagine for lunch at a local home. You’ll also enjoy Moroccan salads and homemade bread during the meal.  After lunch and a short relaxation break, you’ll head down a gentle hill to Imlil village, where you’ll meet your driver for the 1-hour trip back to Marrakech via the Haouz plains.

After morning pickup from your accommodation in Marrakech, set off on a roughly 1-hour long drive into the High Atlas Mountains, bound for the mountain town of Tahnaout. After about 30 minutes drive from we will reach Anima gardens ( Andre Heller Garden ) a place with hundreds of botanical influences from around the world blended together with artworks by Picasso, Haring, Rodin and more.. The garden was created by the artist Andre Heller and contains a variety of exclusive artworks that fill the enormous botanical garden with vivid colors. After the visit of the Anima Garden, we will enjoy a nice drive through Asni Valley for an hour until we reach Imlil village which is a relatively new creation. It was created to cater for the number of tourists pouring through en route to Toubkal: Morocco's Atlas Mountains highest peak (4,167m). It is certainly beautiful with much to catch the eye and mind. The mountain mass of Toubkal dominates the southern skyline. Berber villages abound as well as their intricate farming systems. This valley is very popular and visited by many tourists. There are many affordable activities to enjoy there. Such as a trek to Toubkal Summit. A kasbah style hotel (called "The Kasbah") is located towards the head of the valley. It sits on a rocky outcrop that gives commanding panoramic views to South mountains and Berber communities from all other directions. Having lunch here offers not only Moroccan delicious food but also, an opportunity to relax amid wonderful scenery. Many stops are made in order to take pictures in grand views and sights as well as to communcate with Berbers. We Will also take you for 2 hours walks as part of your trip to see more villages and the area small waterfall. Lunch will be taken in a Berber restaurant with a scenetic mountainous view. On our way back to Marrakech you will have the opportunity to stop at Argan cooperative to have an idea about the medical herbs and Argan products that local people use for skin care.

10. Marrakech: Guided 2-Day Trek to Imlil and Imnan Valleys

2 days Atlas Mountain trek, Imlil and Imnan valleys: Imlil and Imnan valleys – two sides of one coin or two faces of contemporary rural Morocco. Imlil valley represents the modern Morocco with its extensive developmental activities, construction of new buildings, shops, restaurants. Imnane valley is an area where people still maintain to make their living in agriculture, planting and herding. The massive terraced fields of this narrow valley with a river stream splitting it in halves bring peace in mind and together with a great panoramic views from every pass create a wonderful background for contemplation. Day 1: Imlil (1740m) - Tizi n’Tamatert (2270 m) - Imenane valley - Tacheddirt (2400 m) You will meet your guide and mule team in Imlil in the morning. After a welcome mint tea, gear will be stowed on the mules and you will start the trek. The first objective is the pass you see up to your left if you are facing up the valley. The route passes the villages of Ait Souka and Tamatert and enters the forested trails up to the pass at Tizi n´Tamatert at 2270 m. The views back and forward are just outstanding! Rest here a while and enjoy a freshly squeezed orange juice form the small kiosk and soak up the views. From here, the route will drop down to the valley floor where you can have a lunch break. After lunch you will trek up the valley to Tacheddirt where the night will be spent in a local gite Day 2: Imenane valley - Tizi n’Aguersioual (2100 m) - Aguersioual village (1650 m) The second day starts with a heart local breakfast, mules are packed and the trek starts. You will follow the valley passing through several Berber villages; this gives you an opportunity to see up close the buildings, people and lifestyle as they go about their farming and daily routines, feeding animals and tending crops. The route then winds its way uphill to Tizi n´Aguersioual, here the views are also exceptional as you straddle the two valleys form this high point. The trek then descends, passing villages perched on the mountainside, to the roadside village of Aguersioual where your transport will be waiting. Lunch will be in the valley by the river. After Imlil and Imnan valleys trek, you can return to Marrakech or opt to stay nearby in one of the guesthouses in Imlil or another village.

Had an amazing day, starting the morning with a camel ride experience, exploring the waterfalls in afternoon followed by an authentic lunch in a local village. The tour guide Mustafa was amazing and very knowledgeable, and very kind! Expect to be drinking cups of a tea everywhere you go!

Nice guide; yummy breakfast, lunch and tea time; beautiful tour to the Atlas mountains, "hike" was not very long and with a lot of breaks, so don't expect a sporty activity, beautiful views and foto stops, camel ride was nice

Yesterday we had our day trip with Marwan. He was really friendly and helpful. The whole day was great. We had a good laugh and a great time! Lunch was amazing too. Definitely recommended if in Marrakesh.
