Mt Toubkal Ascent Express Trek 2 Days 1 Nights

1. Mt Toubkal Ascent Express Trek 2 Days 1 Nights

Challenge yourself to climb the highest peak in North Africa in 2 days. The tour starts and finishes in the vibrant city of Marrakech, and includes transport to and from Imlil. You will trek with a local English-speaking guide, a local cook, and mules to carry your luggage. This is a challenging walk rather than a climb, and anybody in good physical condition can reach the top. Make sure you bring your camera; the views from the summit are spectacular. Mount Toubkal 4167m is the highest peak in North Africa, and is a trekking peak involving no climbing but may involve walking in crampons or holding an ice axe for security (November to April). The itinerary has been designed for keen walkers, as the ascent is non-technical, but does involve some easy scrambling and snow slopes. After the first day spent trekking, you will stay at the refuge where you will spend the night, and enjoy Berber hospitality. After an early breakfast the next day, set off and reach the summit as the sun rises, rewarding you with amazing views. The views from the summit are amazing across the mountains to Marrakech to the north, and the start of the Sahara to the south. During the ascent you will be rewarded with stunning views of the Atlas Mountains, green valleys, and Berber Villages.

2-Day Toubkal Climb from Marrakech

3. 2-Day Toubkal Climb from Marrakech

Spend 2 memorable days in the spectacular Atlas Mountains on this trekking excursion from Marrakech. Take in stunning views, enjoy Berber hospitality, and ascend to the summit of Toubkal. Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil – Nelter Refuge You’ll be picked up at your hotel after breakfast and head off on the 90-minute drive to Imlil village. This is where you’ll meet the rest of the small team before embarking on a 5-6 hour trek to the small shelter under the top of Toubkal. In some places, the paths are quite steep and narrow, as you continue to rise through the secluded mountains. The route takes you through several passes before you arrive at the shelter where you can enjoy Berber hospitality and spend the night. The first day's trek will involve walking for 5-6 hours and a climb of 1,500 meters (4,921 feet). Day 2: Toubkal Refuge – Toubkal Summit – Imlil – Marrakech On the second day, you’ll make the ascent to the highest point of the Maghreb. Note that this climb does not present any major difficulties. The last peak of Toubkal is wide and the climb is not as steep on the approach to the summit. Marvel at the cliffs that overlook the other side of Lake d'Ifni. After reaching the highest point in North Africa, you will descend to Imlil, where you’ll be picked up for the return trip to Marrakech. The duration of the second day’s trek is approximately 8 hours. You will make an ascent of 1,000 additional meters (3,280 feet). In total, the descent will be approximately 2,468 meters (8,097 feet).

What people are saying about Imlil

There were two of us who took part in this expedition and it was excellent. One other person joined our small group so in total 3 people. We found out the pick-up location the day before. We had Mustafa as our guide and we feel so lucky that we did. We even had the pleasure of going to his home where his wife cooked us the most delicious Berber lunch. It was a truly authentic experience. We needed some items for the hike such as crampons, ice axe and warmer coats which Mustafa helped us rent. The hike itself was challenging in parts and the weather got so bad that we were not able to summit unfortunately. Nobody got to summit that day as the weather was too dangerous. While we were disappointed there was nothing we could have done and we still had an amazing time. I would highly recommend and I hope to summit Toubkal in the near future.

I would recommend this trip to anyone visiting Marrakech, it was our favourite part of our travels! The hike is amazing and the route can be adjusted to suit all capabilities making it accessible to anyone! We walked for about 3-4 hrs per day covering roughly 12km each day and plenty of food was provided to keep your energy levels up. The overnight stay in the Berber village was perfect - a fire and plenty of blankets were provided to keep you warm in the colder months. Our only wish was that we could have kept going for a few more days!

Amazing walking experience! We were a very small group and Mohamed B. adapts to your level. He puts a lot of good mood and attention to make sure you have a good time, and everything you need during the trek and the night in village. Very beautiful landscapes!! And way more than expected in terms of meals and snacks. I can only recommend these 2 days in the Atlas Mountains and would definitely come back one summer. Remember to take good (mountain) shoes and very warm clothes for the evening.

Mustafa our guide was extremely cheerful and welcoming - couldn't have asked for a better guide! Took us on a stunning 2 day walk through the Berber villages and explained everything clearly. Ibrahim cooked the most delicious vegetarian food for us, in vast quantities, and in beautiful locations. The guest house along the way was cozy and bedding was provided. Wished we could've stayed for longer by the end of it!

Guide Mohammed and Chef Saeed were amazing. Great food and Guide was patient with my low fitness level. He offered additional summit hike if you want and if you are fit enough. Met the friendly locals along the way and was touched by their humbleness and welcoming gestures. Loose gravel stones along the path so make sure you have excellent shoes.
